Diablo 4 patch 3.2.0 is packed with familiar Diablo favorites — and coming to the PTR in August
Diablo 4 patch 3.2.0 is scheduled to launch in September alongside Season 15, and we couldn’t be more hyped because some beloved features from prior Diablo titles are making a comeback. The patch is hitting the PTR soon, and based on an interesting caveat in the PTR notes, the test period will have a limited feature set because the devs have more to share at BlizzCon. This is definitely not the first time seasonal details have been obscured to avoid spoilers — after all, Blizzard just surprised us with the Paladin class shadow drop at the 2025 Game Awards. But we didn’t have anything big for Diablo on our BlizzCon 2026 bingo card, as the Lord of Hatred expansion just dropped in April, and it’s fairly soon to announce a new expansion. But it’s clear that something new will be in Season 15, and the PTR won’t offer a sneak peek.
For now, it’s time to test put your tester hats for Diablo 4’s patch 3.2.0 PTR from August 4, 10am pacific to August 11, 10am pacific through the Blizzard Battle.net App for PC, PC Game Pass, or Game Pass Ultimate (accessing the Battle.net client through the Xbox App).
Here’s what you can expect in Diablo 4 patch 3.2.0.

New Seasonal items: Soul Splinters for socketing into jewelry
First up are new “Soul Splinter” socketables for your jewelry. Described as “providing power with a bite,” these are our only hint to the seasonal theme (based on their availability as “Seasonal Items” from Mrak, the trusty PTR vendor). The splinters are extremely reminiscent of the Soul Shard gems in D3’s Lords of Hell season, right down to the naming — (Andariel’s) Anguish, (Azmodan’s) Sin, (Belial’s) Lies, and (Duriel’s) Pain return in new formats, along with Splinters of the Black Soulstone (clearly safe, apply to forehead), the Mother (Blessed Lilith, sadly gone), Hellfire, and Damnation. You know, the classics. The values of the splinters scale between item quality tiers, shown with the various numbers in the list below:
- Splinter of Anguish
- 250/175/2625/4375 Fire Resistance
- You gain 15/20/25/35%[+] Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed, but your Primary Resource Costs are increased by 30%.
- Splinter of Sin
- 250/175/2625/4375 Lightning Resistance
- You gain 10/20/30/40%[x] Maximum Health, but your Maximum Primary Resource is reduced by 30%.
- Splinter of Lies
- 250/175/2625/4375 Cold Resistance
- You gain 40/60/80/100% increased Gold Drop Rate, Crafting Material Drop Rate, and 25% Bonus Experience, but you are always Weakened and Vulnerable.
- Splinter of the Black Soulstone
- 7/20/30/50 All Stats
- Killing enemies absorbs a soul for 15 seconds. Each soul increases your damage by 2/3/4/5%[x], but increases your damage taken by 0.5%. This effect stacks but does not refresh.
- Splinter of Pain
- 250/175/2625/4375 Poison Resistance
- You gain 10/20/30/40% Damage Reduction, but you lose 30% Movement Speed.
- Splinter of the Mother
- 250/175/2625/4375 Physical Resistance
- You are Unhindered. Touching enemies makes them Vulnerable for 10 seconds. After touching 100/150/200/250 enemies, you are Stunned for 4 seconds.
- Splinter of Hellfire
- 35/50/375/625 Resistance to All Elements
- You deal 40/60/80/100%[x] increased damage but lose 100% Critical Strike Chance.
- Splinter of Damnation
- 250/175/2625/4375 Shadow Resistance
- Killing an Elite Pack increases Monster Power by 1 for 10/15/20/25 seconds.

New activities: Challenge Dungeons and Ambushes
With great power comes great challenges — Challenge Dungeons and Ambushes, in fact. Like its mobile sibling (Diablo Immortal), D4 Challenge Dungeons are accessible through “portals that open in the Overland” and can have their difficulty scaled up to three Torment tiers higher than your current to earn greater rewards. However, their content will change between the PTR and Season 15. Conversely, Ambushes happen to you in the Overland — difficult encounters where a random demon begins hunting you, giving you 30 seconds to flee it or fight once you receive the prey warning. Sadly, no notes on rewards for surviving the encounters.

New gear: Updated versions of classic Uniques
More old reliable additions from the Diablo vaults are coming as ten new legacy Unique items coming to the game. Leoric’s Crown (Helm), Nemesis Bracers (Gloves), Ring of Royal Grandeur (Ring), Stone of Jordan (Ring), and Squirt’s Blouse (formerly Necklace, now Chest) are available to all classes for testing in the PTR, while Arioc’s Needle (2H Polearm), Henri’s Perquisition (Offhand), In-Geom (1H Sword), and The Furnace (2H Mace) are available for specific classes to wield and test that can use that item type.
Coming in Season 15, certain classes will also have access to Messerschmidt’s Reaver (2H Axe), but that won’t be available on the PTR.

More Mythic gear improvements
The Mythic-sphere shake-ups of Season 14 are receiving some corrections in the coming patch as well, “mak[ing] the system simpler, offering more crafting choices and giving you far more control over that one major piece you’ll need to carry your build into the highest levels.” And the improvements definitely sound positive on paper:
- Cube upgrades of Unique items will become a 1:1 transfer to the Mythic state, removing the painful randomness (but with a higher material cost); however, these creations will have a new “Crafted” item tag, retaining the “only one equipped” restriction.
- The Jeweler will return to crafting Mythic Uniques (random from the pool usable by your class) with a combination of Resplendent Sparks and Runes, rejoining the Blacksmith, whose Mythic Cache crafts can contain either Mythic Uniques or Iconic Mythics. Neither of these will have the Crafted tag.
- Iconic Mythics will now also have Unique versions as well, making them easier to get for your character early on (but less powerful, of course).
- Mythic Unique Charms, originally a bug in Season 14, will come to the quality line-up. Their properties will roll at maximum value, with a buffed Unique affix. Any existing Unique Charm will have a low chance to drop as Mythic Unique, but there will not be a method to craft or target farm them.
- Sixteen new Unique Charms also join the available Unique line-up (based on items currently unrepresented), and eight of the ten new legacy Unique items will also have charms. Of course, all of these should have a chance to roll as Mythic quality, as well.

The Horadric Post offers new rewards
If you’ve been missing your in-game mail, fret not. The Horadric Post arrives to the title as a mechanism for the Diablo 4 team to deliver rewards and messages to your account, that “will occasionally contain important deliveries… carrying rewards, supplies, and commemorative items.” You’ll even receive an “early commemorative reward” in exchange for testing the system during the PTR.

Character Rebirth returns!
Last, but certainly not least, comes our favorite returnee to Diablo: Character Rebirth. Yes, the ability to rebirth an Eternal character as a Seasonal one (resetting to level 1) is finally, FINALLY coming to Diablo 4. With a cap of 16 character slots, it’s always been a bit snug to roll characters for any kind of testing (or heck, have a character for each class in both Eternal and Seasonal play), so we’ve lived through a lot of character deletions. Rebirth will maintain a running tally of hours played across all that character’s Rebirths, and preserves your class, name, appearance, state (normal or Hardcore), and cosmetic preferences. Your only cost? You have to clear out all gear and items from your character, lest they be deleted.

Woof. This is still a decently-sized list of changing or new features for a limited-scope PTR. You can view the full PTR Build patch notes at the bottom of the announcement blog. We’ll see you in the PTR from August 4 to 11!
