Venomous Abyss Race to World First week 2 recap: All eyes on Ula’tek
The second week of the Race to World First is complete, and our top three guilds have fought their way to the last boss. All that’s left between them and the glory of victory is an ancient snake goddess.
The road to her was not as long as it could’ve been. As the guilds came into the second week of RWF, the Twin Fangs and Coiled Altar encounters were still uncleared. Echo managed to defeat the Twin Fangs after just 19 pulls, while Method took second with 106 pulls, and Liquid got them third with 54 pulls.
The Coiled Altar was a proper good fight though. This is where most of the week was spent, as the combination of abilities in the final phase wound up being quite hard to deal with all at once. Liquid got the first kill on Coiled Altar after 310 pulls, Echo came second with 219, and Method took third with 398 pulls. There were a number of heartbreakingly close attempts under 3% for all of the guilds involved, and more than a few hotfix nerfs before the Coiled Altar was shattered.
Then it was time for Ula’tek. The snake goddess has proven to be a formidable foe. The guilds have had to pull out all of their tricks to even reach the third phase. They had to use Bloodlust and all damage cooldowns on the extra baby snakes that she summons in the second phase and intermission to even get to the final burn.
All three guilds chose to reclear the raid on their resets for extra gear instead of going straight for Ula’tek. Nobody was in range for a possible kill at any moment, so the extra time spent on the reclear wasn’t wasted. The extra gear has helped to improve their damage enough to push more damage on the boss, and now the guilds are inching closer to victory.
As it stands right now, all three leaders are within 23% of each other and within 40 pulls of each other. They’re also still the only guilds on the final boss.
- Liquid 39.54% and 289 pulls
- Echo 60.76% and 265 pulls
- Method 63.2% and 248 pulls
With this progression, the race will come to an end soon; I would be surprised if Ula’tek survives to the end of the day on Friday. But there’s still a long way to go, even for the top guilds.
