Will Diablo 4 come to the Nintendo Switch 2? And if so, when?

Since launch, Diablo 4 has kept up with console releases; both PlayStation and Xbox versions of Diablo 4 came out with the main game, and expansions have launched on those consoles exactly when they have on PC. But since the launch of the Switch 2 in June 2025, we’ve heard nothing from the Diablo team about launching on the latest console. Despite quick PlayStation and Xbox launches, delays on Nintendo consoles aren’t new — Diablo 3 took over a year and a half to launch on Switch after the console was released, and the game didn’t perform particularly well on the console until a few patches improved graphical fidelity and game performance. But despite Diablo 3’s slow release on the original Switch, we have to wonder whether Diablo 4 coming out for the Switch 2 and, if so, when?

With Diablo’s track record, it seems extremely likely that the game will eventually launch on the Switch 2. There are two significant possibilities for a Diablo 4 Switch 2 release date:

• A BlizzCon release date. There’s so little Diablo on the agenda for BlizzCon 2026 that a drop at the convention would be the sort of big, positive move to continue interest in the franchise. And the Diablo team has shown they’re not afraid of such moves, following the shadow drop of a full class (the Paladin) at The Game Awards 2025. How cool would it be to attend BlizzCon, bring your Switch 2 on the plane for entertainment, and find out that you can pick up the game for your future portable enjoyment (internet required, of course).
• A holiday release date. But the game’s release on the Switch 2 could also be announced at BlizzCon for a holiday season release, possibly with a custom console bundle release akin to its predecessor. A holiday release with a custom-skinned console is a popular choice for execs hoping for increased end of year numbers, and it would speak to franchise fanatics that haven’t yet picked up their own Switch 2. Not to mention, it widens the gap between the original Switch 2’s early battery issues by necessitating a new production run.

Regardless, I’m really confident we’ll hear something involving the words “Switch 2” and “Diablo 4” at BlizzCon 2026 and hopefully it’s good news either way. Keep your eyes peeled here for updates during BlizzCon. See you in Sanctuary!
