đź”’ Argus gives us plenty of Draenei lore Easter Eggs
Wowhead recently put together a collection of all the Draenei Easter Eggs found on Argus. We already knew about the Krokul Lore Museum from the PTR, but there are a ton more familiar characters you may recognize. Some are only temporary, and some are names you may not immediately remember. Here are a few of the more interesting and/or exciting Easter Eggs.
By far the saddest is Velen’s family. When the World Quest Bully Pulpit is up, Draenei spirits gather to hear the spirit of Kil’jaeden speak and we must find which of them is secretly an Antoran Infiltrator. Next time you do the World Quest, take a moment to look at the various NPCs gathered and you may see some familiar faces. Two of these faces are heartbreaking — Velen’s wife and son. The Echo of Rakeesh and Echo of Nuuri are gathered near the Echo of Velen, who is standing with Archimonde.
Rakeesh wasn’t originally the name of Velen’s son. That took place after his transformation at the hands of the Legion. It’s likely that the moniker is only for us to recognize him. We don’t know his true name. Also unknown is the fate of Velen’s wife. She and Rakeesh were betrayed when Talgath went to Kil’jaeden instead of bringing them to Velen. We also see Velen’s past during A Non-Prophet Organization. The house we find him in was his own, and he’s staring at his son’s toys and bed.
Other familiar characters also attend the speech. You’ll likely recognize Restalaan, Velen’s friend who saved Durotan and Orgim on Draenor. We also met him in the alternate timeline of Draenor. Valok the Righteous shows up as the Echo of Valok, a throwback to the Death Knight starting zone and the prisoner that Draenei characters are forced to kill. We also see Echo of Jessera, also know as Jessera of Mac’Aree from the Draenei starting zone. She first told us about the wonders of Mac’Aree.
Not only did Argus add Easter Eggs for characters, but Blizzard also incorporated a fan-made roleplaying tournament into official canon. The Jed’hin tournament was actually created by a Draenei player on Wyrmrest Accord as a wrestling sport. It eventually grew in popularity to encompass many groups and tournaments across the roleplaying servers. You can participate in the event via vehicle combat with the competitors. There’s also a World Quest for the area, and a rare Champion as well. In addition, many familiar faces are watching the tournament, including Akama and some of the Exarchs we met in the alternate universe Draenor.
Wowhead has the full list of all the characters and references that appear. It’s definitely worth reading. Even Hakmud gets to go home!
