Breakfast Topic: So I love five player dungeons
One thing I’ve learned from running Legion’s new five player dungeons is, tuning mistakes (and bugs) aside, I really like both new five player dungeons. Our leveling stream team ran both Black Rook Hold and Halls of Valor — and they’re fun, they’re interesting, and they have mechanics you have to figure out and work to overcome. I’d give them both positive reviews, once the bugs are ironed out.
And they got me wondering — could we ever do an expansion where five player dungeons really were an alternate progression path?
Both challenge modes and mythic difficulty attempted to offer that, but I’m not sure if either really managed it. We know we’re getting a whole different kind of CM’s in Legion, and I’d love it if I could just forswear LFR forever and just run dungeons. I’ve rediscovered a love of tanking running these dungeons with the Blizzard Watch crew. Though sometimes exasperating, it’s been a lot of fun — but in a way that raiding never managed for me. There’s something about the smaller scale and the singular tank and heal roles that foster group cooperation. Raiding has its pleasures (I raided for years and still raid casually now), but for my money I’d love to put together a solid five man team and have that be a way to get through an entire expansion.
But that’s why Breakfast Topics exist, to let you comment. Would you accept an expansion that made five player content the priority?
