The Queue: I’m so excited

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

Look, I’m not saying that Jonathan Carevin’s had a little too much coffee today, but evidence suggests maybe he should dial it back just a little.

N TO THE H ASKED:

So, for the wardrobe thang, presumably we have to equip the piece for it to appear in our wardrobe? Sort of like how the void storage works? “Only soulbound items can be bla bla…”

You actually have to have the item soulbound to you in order for it to appear, yes. It’s just like Void Storage in that aspect — or it seems to be so far. Keep in mind the Wardrobe hasn’t been completed yet, so some things may change over the course of the alpha. However, this pretty much seems to be in place so you can’t say…buy an item off the AH, add it to your Wardrobe, and then just go and sell it again. So I’m guessing that aspect will stay put.

IRISH SMAC ASKED:

Q4tQ: Any data mined new cool hunter pets in Legion??

Okay so first off, you can tame yaks now, which is basically the best thing in the world and I can’t wait. Second and more importantly, since you can tame Mechanicals, that means you can go out to that little house just outside Stormwind and tame yourself Tekton, the mechanical and highly explosive sheep. It’s the next-best thing in the world, and I can’t wait to do that, either.

BNDOV3R ASKED:

What has been your favorite quest so far on the Alpha? Does the overall story so far lend to the feeling of epicness?

There have been a ton of quests that I’ve really enjoyed so far, but working with Kobold interns ranks really high up there. It’s a very silly series of quests, and I like quests that make me laugh. The others I really enjoyed stray way too far into spoiler territory so I won’t clarify — but man, if you thought Warlords leveling was good, you’re really going to enjoy the leveling experience in Legion. The story has been amped up a lot.

GALDWYNN ASKED:

Q4tQ: Will WoW ever get New Gods?  Would they fight the Old Gods? I read American Gods by Neil Gaiman a while back and thought that might be a cool sotryline for WoW.

Well, we’ve got the Naaru…

Although technically the Naaru have been around forever and ever, so they don’t really count.

So I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that we, the heroes of Azeroth, are pretty much the closest thing to “new gods” the universe seems to have. Would we fight the Old Gods? Heck yeah, we’ve been doing it all along. And getting stronger and stronger in the process. Strong enough that in Legion, we’re handed these amazing, super powerful weapons of legend, because we’re the only ones fit to wield them. Like Thor’s hammer.

GUERDAN GUPTA ASKED:

Q 4 the Q: Is there anywhere to see how DPS rotations are shaping up in Legion Alpha or Beta?  It’s going to go a long way towards determining if I but the expac and re-sub.

Not that I’m aware of, but keep in mind it’s still alpha and specs and classes are changing with every new build, so it’s not really possible to hammer down things like rotations just yet. They’re still changing all the time. From what little I’ve experienced, most DPS rotations seem to have been cleaned up to a place where you won’t need a million different addons just to keep track of what you’re doing. Most of them, anyway. It makes for far less button bloat, which I appreciate, even if it did take some getting used to initially.

@OMEDON666 ASKED VIA TWITTER:

How well is the “level gap bridging” playing out in legion alpha overworld and instances? Wonky like timewalking or better?

Exceptionally smooth so far! I’ve gone a few different routes with low-level characters, and it doesn’t matter what direction I go, the mobs scale to me. I don’t even notice it. In instances where the scaling is in play, it’s a little weird for healers — Liz has experienced difficulties with health bars and actually seeing how much health someone had when the scaling was in play. We’ve played in dungeons where we were all scaled up to level 110, and that doesn’t present a problem. It’s when we have one player that’s level 108, and another that’s level 101 that seems to be bringing up issues — health bars on the UI don’t seem to be registering properly. I imagine they’ll have that smoothed out by the time launch happens.

That said, it’s really nice that we don’t actually have to all be in the same level range in dungeons. I’m kind of hoping they implement that kind of process for players that want to play with their low-level buddies and do dungeons and questing without one-shotting everything in sight. It’s a really neat piece of tech, and I don’t know who designed it, but they should probably be given cookies.
