What content is the most relevant to you?
When we talk about big content patches — and based on what we know, World of Warcraft’s patch 8.2 is a big one — it helps to know what kind of content players make the most use of. A big raid is absolutely content, but for some players it’s not necessarily useful content, because they’re not likely to do more than LFR it a few times just to get to see it. While for others, big open-world zones like Nazjatar and Mechagon really only exist so they can be blazed through and it’s the new dungeon and/or raid that interests them. Dedicated PVPers, meanwhile, really only get excited when there’s a change to PVP, and generalist players often treat incoming patches like a smorgasbord — they try everything a few times but don’t indulge in any one thing to a great extent.
When we have a patch that’s bringing in a raid, a “Mega Dungeon” that’s Mythic-only, two world zones with questing, and progressive storytelling like patch 8.2, I often wonder which features are the ones the most players get to experience and how evergreen they are. If you’d told me at the beginning of this expansion that World Quests and Warfronts would be my most played with raids a second-place option, I would have been surprised. And I’m not at all sure how I’ll adjust when 8.2 drops and I’m suddenly exploring Nazjatar. It’s a zone I’ve wanted to see for actual years now and I know I’ll get a lot of play out of it.
But that does lead me to wonder — what do you think you’ll be doing most in 8.2? And beyond that, what content in general is the content you play the most? Are you one of those generalists I mentioned? Or are you a dedicated pet battler, or a transmog hunter always looking for new appearances? An alt leveler always interested in new characters and new experiences? A dedicated raider, a Mythic+ dungeon crawler? This isn’t about which is better as much as it’s about what you, personally, get the most enjoyment out of and want to see more of in game. What’s the most relevant content for you?
