When is Warcraft 3: Reforged’s release date? January 28th, 2020!
The Warcraft 3: Reforged team may miss their projected release date of “on or before December 31st 2019” but this afternoon’s announcement of January 28th 2020 doesn’t miss by much. Earlier today we were wondering idly amongst the staff when it might be released, since all the material they put out between the highly anticipated announcement of this remaster and now declared it would be out by the time the ball drops in Times Square to toll the arrival of 2020.
We haven’t heard a peep out of the development team since BlizzCon and the closed beta began, so we were getting a bit nervous with just a couple weeks to go without so much as an acknowledgement of the looming deadline. The post itself cites needing time for a little bit of additional polish, which is something we’ve come to expect over the years out of Blizzard, and it makes us a little bit more excited about the state Warcraft 3: Reforged will be in when it hits our hands at long last.
Like many recent releases this will be a global release, meaning that the switches for the servers get switched at the same moment, which won’t be the same numerical time. The servers will be enabled at 3 p.m. PST, so for some people in Asia and Australia it’ll technically fall in the morning on the 29th — 8 a.m. in Seoul, for instance. There’s an infographic with a smattering of times given as examples in the official post if you need a bit more guidance there.
You can still purchase either the base edition for $29.99 or the upgraded edition for $10 USD more in the official gear store. If you’re not sure which you’d rather get, we have a full post with the breakdown of everything you can expect to get from both editions. We also have a metapost with everything we know about the Warcraft 3: Reforged remaster to date, including the date of the upcoming launch.
We’ll see you January 28th in the afternoon!
