How are you handling Shadowlands’ overwhelming amount of max-level content?
One problem I have with Shadowlands is that there’s a lot to do at max level, and it’s kind of daunting. I’m more interested in leveling alts than I am in clearing my way through a Covenant story, much less four or five of them. Instead of leveling to 60 and getting deep into the story, I’m leveling to 60 and then leveling to 60 again. And no, I’m not using Threads of Fate because that would just mean I’d be leveling through the part of Shadowlands that kind of intimidates me, and I instead want to level through the content that felt welcoming and easy to grasp.
In other words, Shadowlands has made its endgame too intimidating for me to solo through it. Love or hate Battle for Azeroth, I could get geared up and run content solo to my heart’s content in that expansion, to the point where I leveled multiple characters to max level and enjoyed playing each of them. I do not feel like that would be the case in Shadowlands — I’m actively put off by Soulbinds and Conduits and getting my Covenant Sanctum leveled up. It’s just too much.
I know I’m going to do it eventually, after the holidays are over and I don’t feel frazzled. But right now, in the hopeful December I have too much I want to do out in my life to really dedicate this kind of time and focus on my video game. I suspected this would be the case, to be honest. In a way, I think there’s simply too much game in Shadowlands and I’m having a hard time getting my head wrapped around it all.
Clearly that’s not the case for the vast majority of players, who seem utterly enraptured with it. So maybe here’s where you could help me out. Tell us your coping strategies for it all. How do you approach max level play? Are you running around in Torghast mostly? Do you do a ton of World Quests? What’s your Shadowlands look like at level 60?
