Sanctum of Domination Race to World First: Remnant of Ner’zhul has been stripped of his armor and defeated!
The fiendish Remnant of Ner’zhul has been reached in our Race to World First Sanctum of Domination. Soniqs Imperative was the first guild to reach it, but Complexity-Limit is the first guild to finish the fight.
Complexity-Limit has surged ahead by defeating the Remnant of Ner’zhul. The massive amount of damage needed to kill the Orbs of Torment meant that they were alive longer to pulse damage out to the raid. Combined with the extra damage inflicted by clearing Malevolence this boss was taxing the healers to their limits. They only managed to squeak out this victory by the skin of their teeth — by the end of the fight, only about five or six players were left standing to celebrate their victory. Echo managed a cleaner world second kill, but the rest of the race remains stuck trying to take down Ner’zhul. Method managed to secure the world third kill of Remnant of Ner’zhul taking third place in the race overall as they head towards Soulrender Dormazain.
This fight on Mythic has been the first that really makes World First raiders pause. Knockoff mechanics are always the trickiest to deal with since you can’t brute force them, and Ner’zhul has them in spades. The big change from Heroic to Mythic difficulty is that now as players shatter pieces of Ner’zhul’s armor off of him those pieces animate and will duplicate one of his abilities. Instead of having just a single line of Suffering for a tank to position, there’ll be a second one coming from elsewhere on the platform starting at 80%. The Grasp of Malice will also be duplicated at 60% giving raiders two sets of three lines to dodge or else be yeeted off of the platform. While at 30% there’ll be an additional two Malevolence debuffs that need to be cleansed. Raiders will be bouncing all over the platform in a way we haven’t seen since Mythic Kil’jaeden back in Legion.
Coordinating every one of these abilities at once will make for an amazingly chaotic final 30%. Whichever guild keeps their footing here will be able to claim the bragging rights that come with being the first to put the final nail in the coffin for this old soul.
