WoW Dragonflight patch 10.2.5, Seeds of Renewal, is live!
Blizzard has managed to keep pace with the ambitious 2023 Dragonflight roadmap the company released last year, with each patch — both major and minor — delivered so far without any significant delay, culminating in the last major patch of the Dragonflight expansion, patch 10.2, that’s currently live. Recently, Blizzard released the 2024 World of Warcraft roadmap detailing the general release windows of Dragonflight‘s final patches throughout Winter and Spring 2024 before transitioning into the next expansion. Patch 10.2.5, Seeds of Renewal, is now live!

What’s in patch 10.2.5, Seeds of Renewal?
Patch 10.2 introduced old mounts being usable in the Dragon Isles and in patch 10.2.5, players can now use dragonriding everywhere. In patch 10.2, dragonracing cups appeared on the in-game calendar, taking place on Azeroth’s other contents with the first one players will get to compete in is the Outland Cup as part of patch 10.2.5. During BlizzCon 2023, we learned that Amirdrassil will be the final raid of the Dragonflight expansion setting up Dragonflight’s epilogue quests coming in patch 10.2.5.
We originally learned that Gilneas was going to have some part in the epilogue quests and the roadmap confirms it’ll center around taking the titular city back under (presumably) Alliance control. Patch 10.2.5 is also bringing other story-based activities focused on the Azerothian Archives, AI followers in dungeons, and bring more customization options for Trolls, Draenei, and for Warlock Demons.
What could the WoW release schedule look like for 2024?
The 2023 roadmap established a firm release cadence with Dragonflight and Blizzard seeks to keep that momentum rolling in their 2024 roadmap, with each patch having about an 8-week window between releases. This puts patch 10.2.7, and the end of Dragonflight, in Spring 2024 around mid-to-late March or early April. With the The War Within scheduled to release at the end of Summer 2024, we thought there would be some lull in content but this roadmap clears that up by announcing The War Within pre-patch, 11.0.1, will arrive sometime in Summer 2024, probably around late June or early July.
The final stretch of the Dragonflight story has begun, kicking off what looks to be an exciting year in World of Warcraft!
