With a new patch less than a month away, how do you feel about Blizzard’s roadmap for WoW?
Just in case you’ve forgotten, patch 10.1 is coming out in a month. Keep in mind that as I type this, patch 10.0.7 has only been out for less than two weeks, and wow, does that not feel like things are moving at a dizzying pace? Keep in mind that we had six patches on the 2023 Roadmap, and we’re through half of them as of next month. I do not recall this game ever releasing content at this pace. Just imagine, if patch 10.2 were to be the end of Dragonflight’s story — and I don’t believe for a second that is the case — then we would be on pace for the end of the end of expansion content sometime in November of this year.
Now, I believe we’re likely going to see a patch 10.3 next year, as well as a patch 10.2.5 and 10.2.7 before it, but that’s still some of the quickest turnaround in terms of c0ntent release in World of Warcraft‘s history. And that has me thinking that at this point, effectively the half way point for the 2023 Roadmap, we have to acknowledge that Blizzard has been knocking it out of the park so far. If you’d told me back in 2021 that Dragonflight would not only have a tremendously ambitious launch plan, but would meet or exceed that plan in terms of actual releases? I doubt I would have believed you.
But honestly I feel like Blizzard has managed to, at least as of now, do exactly what it said it would do and hit the halfway point of their 2023 Roadmap before the middle of the year has even passed. I have to admit, this is better than I expected.
So what about you? Did you think Blizzard could get this far this fast? Did you expect a delay, or a missed patch? What do you think about how Blizzard has been releasing content thus far in Dragonflight?
