What will BlizzCon 2023 tickets cost?
The announcement of in-person BlizzCon brought excitement to fans across the globe, but as the initial exhilaration faded, a question surfaced: how much is this going to cost us? Going to BlizzCon in person means not only paying for your tickets, but travel (plane, train, automobile, gryphon, windrider, sea turtle), lodging, food, and so on — but for this post, let’s concentrate just on BlizzCon 2023 tickets.
Here’s what tickets to BlizzCon will cost this year.
What is the BlizzCon 2023 ticket price?
General Admission tickets will cost $299 USD. This provides you with access to all the exhibit halls, early access to the BlizzCon Store on Thursday, exclusive in-game goodies, and an official BlizzCon backpack. I loved the BlizzCon backpack I received at BlizzCon 2017. I continued to use it until recently when my cats decided it had to be destroyed. I was not happy. Let’s just say it’s a good thing they’re cute.
The BlizzCon was held in 2019, and tickets sold quickly. If you’re interested in BlizzCon 2023, exercise that F5 finger and be ready to fork over your currency. The first wave will go on sale Saturday, July 8 at 10 a.m. PDT. The second wave will go on sale Saturday, July 22 at 10 a.m. PDT.
What is the BlizzCon 2023 Portal Pass ticket price?
Portal Pass tickets will cost $799 USD.
The Portal Pass option for in-person attendees returns for BlizzCon 2023. It gives you everything the General Admission ticket provides, along with several additional perks. First, you’ll receive access to Portal Pass Lounge. This is an exclusive lounge with private concessions (shorter lines) and a private area to view the panels. The Lounge also has its own demo computers to play all the BlizzCon offerings. You’ll also get the opportunity to meet Blizzard employees and esports pros.
The Portal Pass gives you access to an exclusive (shorter) registration line and an exclusive (shorter) security line, as well as early entry on Friday and Saturday, though you can only go to Lounge during the early entry time. It’s basically the express lane into the convention, plus additional meet and greets.
What is the BlizzCon 2023 Virtual Ticket price?
Blizzard will also offer a Virtual Ticket in addition to the in-person ticket, but you don’t need a Virtual Ticket to watch the convention, because BlizzCon 2023 will be livestreamed free of charge.
Purchasing the Virtual Ticket will give you access to some in-game cosmetic swag and early access to BlizzCon merchandise. Pricing for the Virtual has not yet been announced, but in 2019, the Virtual Ticket cost $49.99. Simply adjusting for inflation from 2019 to 2023 gives us an estimated $60 Virtual Ticket, but based upon the other prices released, I would expect it to be higher than $60… however, since the Virtual Ticket no longer includes stream access, it could also be less than we expect. Again, this is simply speculation until we get the actual pricing from Blizzard.
The 2019 Virtual Ticket provided players with items for several games. I’d be quite surprised if we saw anything for StarCraft 2, Diablo 3, or Heroes of the Storm with this year’s Virtual Ticket, but Overwatch players received two Legendary skins in 2019, and WoW subscribers received two murloc pets. Similar items make sense for a 2023 Virtual Ticket.
Blizzard dealt Hearthstone players a Golden Legendary card. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Signature Card this year. Diablo 3 players received Lilith Wings, which was somewhat controversial as many Diablo 3 players felt shortchanged. With the recent emphasis on Diablo 4 and Immortal, I would expect several Diablo-themed items in this year’s Virtual Ticket.
BlizzCon 2023 Charity Auction
In addition to the tickets, you’ll also have the opportunity to participate in the 2023 Charity Auction. Blizzard will auction off unique artwork and collectibles, with all proceeds going to to Direct Relief. They work to to improve the lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies, regardless of the individual’s politics, religion, or ability to pay. You can find out more about Direct Relief on their website.
Typically Blizzard holds a charity dinner during BlizzCon, but we don’t yet have any details on whether there will be a charity dinner this year or what it might cost. It’s possible we’ll get details on the charity dinner later, or that we’ll only have a charity auction this year.
That’s all we know about BlizzCon 2023 pricing so far, but we’ll update this post when we know more about the Virtual Ticket or charity dinner.
