What class do you hope to see in the first Diablo 4 expansion?
Love it or leave it, Diablo 4 is going to grow and has a ton of possibilities for follow-up, and it’s already confirmed that we’re getting a Diablo 4 expansion in the next year, likely to be announced in a few weeks at BlizzCon. So what’s the next installment of the story going to do, and more importantly, what class will join the ranks of the saviors of Sanctuary?
(And yes, I will do this without major spoilers!)
Introducing another class via game expansion is a standard tool of the Diablo franchise. Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction added two new classes (the Assassin and Druid) with a fifth act where you help the Barbarians of Mount Arreat fend off the forces of Baal. This translated into seven classes on the release of Diablo 2 Resurrected.
Similarly, Diablo 3 included the Crusaders through the Reaper of Souls expansion. The headcount hit seven possibilities again with returning Necromancers through DLC. So where will this lead us in Diablo 4?
Well, Necromancers and Druids joined the initial lineup for Diablo 4. Still, we have so many potential options across the titles in the series’ history, not to mention other options from the ARPG universe. Blizzard could go a few different ways, but two possibilities are incredibly relevant to the current story: a caster/summoner, like the witches of Hawezar, or a Zakarum disillusioned with the Church of Light. Both have excellent foundations already in D4, but I think a jaded holy warrior torn between Prava and Sister Octavia is ripe for development.
Personally? I’d love to see this class option come through to the Diablo universe in the form of a Cleric. It should be entirely possible to have a healer support class that can also be independently played. It doesn’t have to be the holy warrior — priests and priestesses are just as solid of a chance to rescue us from the armies of the Burning Hells.
But tell us — what class would you like to see come to Diablo? What would you love to play next in the fight for Sanctuary? Share your thoughts in the comments!
