When does Diablo 4 Season 2 end? You can play the Season of Blood into January!

Diablo 4 Season 2, Season of Blood, started October 17 with a few bumps for console but an otherwise surprisingly smooth kickoff. Players across Sanctuary are slaughtering Lord Zir and his minions, wielding Vampiric Powers with deadly accuracy (and frankly, a lot of glee). But when do we finish our collective blood frenzy under the quarterly Season model? Diablo 4 Season 2 ends January 23, 2024 at 10:00 am Pacific.

Season 2 kicked off the same day as the end of Season 1, similar to Diablo Immortal seasons and Diablo 2 Resurrected ladder resets. However, having the Season end dates available for the whole season is a fairly new phenomenon, reflecting the “live service” mentality for titles like D4 and Immortal. What does having the end date available mean?

There are definitely some upsides, especially if you’re not someone completely blasting the first few weeks. We know the season will be roughly 14 weeks; we can use this to plan completing seasonal goals, such as knocking out a Battle Pass tier a day or a Season’s Journey chapter every other week. The new title has also meant new Season’s Journey objectives — we don’t have years of repetition behind us to blast through everything, although the objectives are really well integrated to standard gameplay. It also gives time to explore how the seasonal theme impacts the speed at which you complete objectives.

Conversely, these same-day rollouts have some associated heartburn. Season 1 ended on October 17 at 10:00am Pacific, but Season 2’s start was delayed due to unforseen issues with the crossplay functionality. Additionally, we don’t know ahead of time how the theme impacts gameplay. These are pain points that we can dodge with PTR testing — something not yet a part of the D4 lifecycles.

Regardless, Season 2 has had an incredibly enjoyable kickoff; its patch brought a ton of enhancements enjoyed by the player community, and we have at least one hotfix to look forward to. Patch 1.2.1, going live October 31, delivers even more quality of life improvements such as a “Refund All” button to the Paragon boards. While the quality of life changes are with us for the long haul, Season of Blood and its epic Vampiric Powers are only yours for the slaughtering until Season 2 ends on January 23, 2024. Happy hunting!
