How to complete the Season Journey in Diablo 4 Season 2

Diablo 4 Season 2 is well underway, but you still have plenty of time to complete the Season Journey. If you didn’t participate in the first season, you can expect the gameplay to be much like the Diablo 3 Season Journey: it’s a series of increasingly difficult objectives that reward loot, gear, titles, cosmetics, and general prestige.

The Season 2 Journey feels a little easier than the Season 1 Journey at lower levels: a number of objectives require you to do fewer things, so you’ll probably progress through the first four chapters more quickly. However, the final three chapters really up the ante, requiring you to kill all of the game’s new endgame bosses, complete a level 90 Nightmare Dungeon, and max out quite a few Paragon Glyphs. However, you’ll get some better rewards for your efforts: this season you’ll find a new mount, new mount armor, and new mount trophy amongst the Season Journey rewards, and you’ll pick up three Scrolls of Amnesia from later chapters.

But this Season I’m not sure if I’ll bother to finish the final chapter, which only rewards a new title and a bunch of Season 2 crafting materials.

However, if you’re playing Diablo 4 this season you should be able to make plenty of progress without too much work — and collect plenty of rewards along the way. With leveling reportedly 40% faster, this is a great time to play to unlock the late game content that has been particularly difficult to reach in the past. Here are all of the objectives and rewards on the Diablo 4 Season 2 Season Journey.

Chapter 1

Chapter 1 objectives

Complete 6 of 8 objectives to earn all rewards and unlock Chapter 2:

  • Collect 10 Reddamine
  • Complete 3 priority or side quests
  • Complete a cellar
  • Salvage 7 common items at the blacksmith or jeweler
  • Complete 2 dungeons in Dry Steppes
  • Complete a world event
  • Equip a piece of Pact Armor
  • Activate a Vampiric Power

All of these are quite simple to complete, though you’ll want to focus time on the Dry Steppes, as Reddamine is found there and you need to complete two dungeons in the area. Pact Armor and Vampiric Powers will require you to work on the seasonal story and do Blood Harvest events. Start on the seasonal quest as soon as you can — you’ll either have to complete or skip the campaign first — and you’ll pick up this chapter along the way.

Chapter 1 rewards

  • Greater Favor, to unlock new Battle Pass reward tiers
  • First Journey Cache, which contains herbs and Pact Armor
  • Aspects:
    • Barbarian: Wanton Rupture Aspect: Your Rupture does not remove the Bleeding damage from enemies. This can occur once every 40 seconds.
    • Druid: Raw Might Aspect: After you hit 15 enemies with your Werebear Skills, your next Werebear Skill will deal 30% more damage and Stun enemies for 2 seconds.
    • Necromancer: Aspect of the Long Shadow: Lucky Hit: Your Shadow Damage Over Time effects have a 10% chance to generate 3 Essence. Damage from your Shadowblight Key Passive will always generate 2 Essence.
    • Rogue: Aspect of Artful Initiative: When you spend 100 Energy you release a cluster of exploding Stun Grenades that deal 8 total Physical damage and Stun enemies for 0.50 seconds. Your Grenade Skills deal 15% more damage.
    • Sorcerer: Battle Caster’s Aspect: Lucky Hit: When your Conjuration Skills hit you have up to a 30% chance to gain +1 Rank to your Conjuration skills for 12 seconds. This can stack up to 3 times.

Chapter 2

Complete 9 of 11 objectives to earn all rewards and unlock Chapter 3:

Chapter 2 objectives

  • Obtain 2 Caches from the Tree of Whispers by completing Whispers
  • Complete 8 cellars
  • Conquer a Stronghold
  • Upgrade your Potion to Minor at the Alchemist (requires level 20)
  • Unlock 8 Aspects in the Codex of Power, such as through completing Dungeons
  • Reach level 25
  • Rescue Villagers within the Blood Harvest
  • Defeat a Blood Seeker
  • Activate a Vampiric Power that requires at least 3 Pacts
  • Add or remove Pacts from a piece of armor
  • Craft a Gem at the Jeweler

This chapter is primarily about engaging with the new seasonal mechanics. You’ll want to spend time in Blood Harvests to pick up Pact Armor and activate Vampiric powers. You should be doing Whispers and dungeons level regardless, but you’ll need to go out of your way to do eight cellars and one Stronghold. (Druids will want to do Túr Dúlra by level 15 to unlock their Spirit Boons, but other classes will need to make time to head into a Stronghold.)

Chapter 2 rewards

  • Greater Favor, to unlock new Battle Pass reward tiers
  • Second Journey Cache, which contains Scattered Prisms, Pact Armor, and Potent Blood
  • Aspects:
    • Barbarian: Aspect of Berserk Fury: You gain 3 Fury per second while Berserking.
    • Druid: Aspect of the Stampede: Gain 1 additional Companion. In addition, your Companion Skills deal 16% bonus damage.
    • Necromancer: Each time one of your Summoning Minions damages an enemy, they gain 10% Attack Speed for 3 seconds, up to 30%.
    • Rogue: Aspect of Quickening Fog: You automatically drop a Smoke Grenade at the end of Dash. Some Grenades reduce Dash’s Cooldown by 0.40 seconds for each enemy hit, up to 2 seconds.
    • Sorcerer: Stable Aspect: While Unstable Currents is not active, your Shock Skills have a 7% chance to trigger a free cast from it.

Chapter 3

Complete 10 of 13 objectives to earn all rewards and unlock Chapter 4:

Chapter 3 objectives

  • Obtain 5 Caches from the Tree of Whispers by completing Whispers
  • Conquer 3 Strongholds
  • Craft 5 Elixirs at the Alchemist
  • Unlock 16 Aspects in the Codex of Power
  • Upgrade your potion to Light at the Alchemist (requires level 30)
  • Reach Reputation Level 3 in the Blood Harvest
  • Destroy 7 Blood Blisters within the Blood Harvest
  • Upgrade a Vampiric Power to Level 2 by consuming Potent Blood
  • Defeat 12 Blood Seekers
  • Purify 700 Seeds of Hatred
  • Open a Silent Chest with a Whispering Key from the Purveyor of Curiosities
  • Complete the Cathedral of Light to unlock World Tier 3: Nightmare
  • Equip a piece of armor with 5 Pacts engraved on it

Again, a lot of this tier requires you to engage in the latest seasonal theme. You’ll have to spend a fair amount of time in Blood Harvests to earn Reputation Level 3, upgrade your Vampiric Powers, equip armor with 5 Pacts, and destroy Blood Blisters. But these remain activities that you should be doing anyway: the Vampiric Powers you collect are extremely strong, and can define your final build. Continue leveling and playing as usual, with a focus on Blood Harvests, dungeons, and fit in a few Strongholds. You’ll likely be close to 50 when you finish this tier, as you’ll need it to unlock World Tier 3.

Chapter 3 rewards

  • Greater Favor, to unlock new Battle Pass reward tiers
  • Third Journey Cache, which contains Legendary Salvage, Pact Armor, and Potent Blood
  • Strips and Points mount armor — a new type of item in Season Journey rewards, and a much welcome cosmetic!
  • Aspects:
    • Barbarian: Luckbringer Aspect: Gain 12% increased Lucky Hit Chance while all damage bonuses from the Walking Arsenal Key Passive are active
    • Druid: Aspect of Natural Balance: Casting a Storm Skill grants your Earth Skills 30% Critical Strike Damage for 4 seconds. Casting a Earth Skill increases the Critical Strike chance of Storm Skills by 8% for 4 seconds.
    • Necromancer: Aspect of Shielding Storm: Each time that Bone Storm damages an enemy, gain a Barrier equal to 2% of your Base Life for 10 seconds.
    • Rogue: Mangler’s Aspect: Lucky Hit: Dealing direct damage to a Vulnerable enemy has up to a 25% chance to Daze them for 2 seconds.
    • Sorcerer: Aspect of Ancient Flame: While both bonuses from the Esu’s Ferocity Key Passive are active, your Attack Speed is increased by 40%.

Chapter 4

Complete 9 of 11 objectives to earn all rewards and unlock Slayer.

Chapter 4 objectives

  • Kill another player
  • Improve a Paragon Glyph to Rank 4
  • Use 5 Nightmare Sigils to activate and complete 5 Nightmare Dungeons
  • Complete a Tier 10 or higher Nightmare Dungeon
  • Upgrade 2 items to four stars at the Blacksmith or Jeweler
  • Defeat a World Boss
  • Defeat the Blood Seeker Council, summoned with Blood Lures in the Blood Harvest
  • Defeat Lord Zir
  • Upgrade a Vampiric Power to Level 3
  • Defeat the Echo of Varshan in World Tier 3
  • Equip a piece of armor with 5 identical Pacts engraved on it

You’ll need to play on World Tier 3 to get some of these objectives, which means you should expect to be in your 50s as you work through this chapter. While some of the boss fights required could prove difficult — you’ll want to be sure you collect Sacred gear and make some progress on the Paragon board to improve your damage and survivability — a lot of this you’ll collect easily as you play.

Also, while nothing in this chapter requires you to run Helltides, I strongly recommend doing them. You’ll collect rare crafting materials and better gear, as well as making progress on later chapters that require you to collect Cinders.

Chapter 4 rewards

  • Greater Favor, to unlock new Battle Pass reward tiers
  • Fourth Journey Cache, which contains Forgotten Souls, Pact materials, and Potent Blood
      • Barbarian: Aspect of Limitless Rage: Each point of Fury you generate while at Maximum Fury grants your next core Skill 1% increased damage, up to 15%.
      • Druid: Aspect of Metamorphic Stone: Boulder is now a Core Skill and costs 50 Spirit to cast dealing 100% of normal damage.
      • Necromancer: Whenever your Blood Skills Overpower you gain 20% Attack Speed for 4 seconds.
      • Rogue: Aspect of Synergy: Using an Agility Skill reduces the Cooldown of your next Subterfuge Skill by 20%. Using a Subterfuge Skill increases the damage of your next Agility Skill by 30%.

Slayer

Complete 10 of 12 objectives to earn all rewards and unlock Champion.

Slayer objectives

  • Craft an Elixir of at least Required Level 65 at the Alchemist
  • Open six different types of Tortured Gifts during Helltide
  • Equip Sacred Legendary items in every slot
  • Purify 5,000 Seeds of Hatred
  • Improve a Paragon Glyph to rank 21
  • Complete a Tier 20 or higher Nightmare Dungeon
  • Complete the Fallen Temple capstone dungeon to unlock World Tier 4
  • Reach Reputation Level 10 in the Blood Harvest
  • Defeat Grigoire in World Tier 3
  • Possess 20 total Pacts across equipped armor at once
  • Upgrade Vampiric Powers to level 3
  • Craft a Flawless Gem at the Jeweler

We’re getting into some of the game’s tougher content with this chapter. You’ll want to spend a fair amount of time in Nightmare Dungeons to level your Glyphs, keep upgrading your Vampiric Powers, equip a lot of Pacts, and tackle another of the game’s new endgame bosses. Expect to be around level 70 by the time you complete this chapter, as that’s around when you’ll want to do the next capstone.

Slayer rewards

  • Epic Favor, to unlock new Battle Pass reward tiers
  • Fifth Journey Cache, which contains late game resources, Pact Armor, Potent Blood, and a Scroll of Amnesia. The scroll, which resets all of your skill and Paragon points for free, is particularly valuable if you want to change your spec late game, and it was previously a reward for completing the entire Season Journey.
  • Salmagundi Mount, another type of reward that wasn’t included in the last Season Journey
  • Aspect: All classes: Aspect of Elements: Gain 20% increased damage to a set of damage types for 7 seconds. This effect alternates between 2 sets: Fire, Lighting, and Physical; Cold, Poison, and Shadow

Champion

Complete 10 of 12 objectives to earn all rewards and unlock Destroyer.

Champion objectives

  • Siphon from an enemy as the Hatred’s Chosen
  • Acquire 5,000 Cinders during Helltide
  • Defeat every World Boss in World Tier 4
  • Complete a Tier 50 or higher Nightmare Dungeon
  • Upgrade your Potion to Major at the Alchemist (requires level 80)
  • Reach level 90
  • Defeat Grigoire in World Tier 4
  • Defeat the Beast in the Ice in World Tier 4
  • Defeat the Echo of Varshan in World Tier 4
  • Defeat Lord Tier in World Tier 4
  • Equip Ancestral Legendary items in every gear slot
  • Upgrade 5 Vampiric Powers to Level 3

This tier requires you to tackle almost all of the new endgame bosses, so you should focus on collecting materials to summon them. As you do that, you should be leveling and collecting gear — which is good, because you’ll both need it to take down these bosses and complete the objective that requires you to equip Ancestral Legendaries.

Champion rewards

  • Epic Favor, to unlock new Battle Pass reward tiers
  • Sixth Journey Cache, which contains late game resources, Pact materials, Potent Blood, and two Scrolls of Amnesia
  • Body-Part Burlap Mount Trophy, which is another cosmetic new to the Season Journey
  • Aspect: All Classes: Aspect of Slaughter: You gain 20% Movement Speed. Lose this bonus for 5 seconds after taking damage.

Destroyer

Complete 7 of 9 objectives to earn all rewards.

Destroyer objectives

  • Defeat Durial in World Tier 4
  • Purify 22,222 Seeds of Hatred
  • Open 10 Tortured Gifts during a single Helltide in World Tier 4
  • Defeat 12 World Bosses
  • Equip at least 8 Ancestral Unique items simultaniously
  • Complete a Tier 90 or higher Nightmare Dungeon
  • Upgrade five Paragon Glyphs to Rank 21
  • Reach Reputation Level 18 in the Blood Harvest
  • Defeat the Echo of Lilith in World Tier 4

This is the ultimate challenge, and it will be much more difficult to complete than it was in Season 1. Wrapping up the Season Journey requires leveling a lot of Paragon Glyphs to max level, and completing a Tier 90 Nightmare Dungeon (last Season you only had to complete a Tier 43). Equipping eight Ancestral Unique items at once could also prove a challenge: it’s unlikely that you’ll want that many uniques for any build, so you’ll have to hang on to Ancestral Uniques you find in order to equip enough to reach that objective. However, one of these isn’t as tough as it sounds: purifying 22,222 Seeds of Hatred may seem daunting, but Seeds drop in huge numbers (particularly for finishing events in Fields of Hatred), and the objective probably won’t take more than an hour of work.

But  to top it off, the Season wants you to kill the game’s most difficult endgame bosses: Duriel and Lilith.

The final rewards also seem a bit weaker this season. In Season 1 you had to complete Destroyer in order to get the coveted Scroll of Amnesia, but now you get scrolls earlier. If you’re particularly keen on the titles this season, expect to put a lot of work in.

Destroyer rewards

  • Player titles Shadow (prefix) and Vampire (suffix)
  • Seventh Journey Cache, which contains an enormous amount of Potent Blood

If you’re set on completing the Season Journey in Diablo 4 Season 2, you’ll want to start now — though you have three months to complete it, some of these objectives will likely prove quite a challenge. But remember that you don’t have to complete every objective to finish the Season Journey: pick the objectives that are easiest to complete and skip the objectives that are too tough.

And that’s all for the Season Journey in Diablo 4 Season 2. Good luck with this season and earning all of the rewards!
