Six Diablo 4 Season 2 Vampiric powers return to the game as affixes in mid-season update

Diablo 4 Season 3 will be bringing back six popular Vampiric Powers from Season 2, the fan-favorite Season of Blood, as new legendary affixes. These powers were some of the highlights of playing in Season 2 and tied in so well with the season’s vampiric aesthetic; Metamorphosis’ bat cloud will stick with my memory for a while. (And spoiler, Metamorphosis is returning!) These new vampire-inspired legendaries will be going live with the mid-season patch on March 5.

The dev team made sure to note during the mid-season campfire chat that these powers are being tuned a bit for their legendary form. We can’t just throw the complete power boost into the game, right? Here are all of the vampiric powers returning to Diablo 4, in their updated forms:

  • Accursed Touch (Offensive Aspect) — On lucky hits, you have up [20.0-35.0%] chance for your Skills to inflict Vampiric Curse on enemies. Enemies afflicted with Vampiric Curse are also Vulnerable. Vampiric Curse’s stored souls deal [20.0 – 50.0%] increased damage.
  • Blood Boiling (Offensive Aspect) — When your Core Skills Overpower an enemy, you spawn 3 Volatile Blood Drops. Collecting a Volatile Blood Drop causes it to explode, dealing [3,447 – 6,895] Physical damage around you. Ever 20 seconds, your next Skill is guaranteed to Overpower.
  • Undying (Defensive Aspect) — When you cast a Skill, you heal for [0.5 – 2.0%] Life. Double this bonus while below 50% Life.
  • Metamorphosis (Mobility Aspect) — When you Evade, you turn into a cloud of bats, becoming Unstoppable for 2.5 seconds. Enemies along your path take 13,789 Physical damage and are inflicted with Vampiric Curse. Evade’s Cooldown is increased by [10.0 – 5.0] seconds.
  • Moonrise (Offensive Aspect) — Damaging an enemy with a Basic Skill grants you 4% Attack Speed for 10 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. Upon reaching maximum stacks, you enter a Vampiric Bloodrage, gaining [40 – 80%] Basic Skill damage and 15% Movement Speed for 10 seconds.
  • Hectic (Utility Aspect) — After casting 5 Basic Skills, one of your active Cooldowns is reduced by [2.0 – 4.0] seconds.

Frankly, these are pretty spectacular, even in their modified forms. Name one player that didn’t enjoy Metamorphosis — go on, I’ll wait. Yes, having an increased cooldown to Evade isn’t awesome, but that’s why you stack extra Evade charges on your boot stats. Even with a longer cooldown, I’d much rather turn into an unstoppable bat cloud.

Now keep in mind, these are getting added as drop aspects — they won’t be showing up in your Codex of Power (at least, not anytime soon). You’ll have to extract them from pieces of gear if you want them applied to existing Legendary items. But they’re definitely still worth working into your gear.

These Vampiric Powers will be in game soon, ready to queue up into your builds: they launch on March 5 with mid-season patch 1.3.3. Happy hunting!
