Which Hearthstone anniversary event reward are you still trying to get?

This week World of Warcraft launched a new in-game event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hearthstone, and it’s packed with Hearthstone-themed rewards. Participating in the event is simple, but actually getting those rewards is still a challenge.

I’ve settled into a bit of a routine now, with alts parked at the event so it’s easy to jump on when it starts. After an update to make the event easier to complete, portals spawn every 30 minutes in Valdrakkan, Stormwind, and Durotar just outside of the gates to Orgrimmar. Three elite mobs from the Hearthstone digital card game leap out off those portals, including the infamous Dr Boom, who can be looted for a variety of rewards. The servers have been struggling a little with all the spell effect lag, if your system is having trouble rendering all the flashes and bangs, look in your toy box for either of Overtuned Corgi Goggles or Eyes Only For You to reduce the amount of visual clutter.

Earlier in the week I was getting fairly decent rewards every kill, and I’m currently at 16 out of 21 of the Hearthstone cards for the Hearthstone Card Collection achievement. I managed to get the mount and the pet, a few pieces of transmog, the bag on both my alts, but the hats and the toy are still outstanding.

The community as always is both a delight and a concern. The group finder was being used heavily earlier in the event as people were shard-hoping to take advantage of the Stormwind portal respawning out of sequence frequently. This was patched after a few hours, but prior to the bug being fixed, a number of charming players were starting up groups advertising portals that just weren’t there, filling up the group finder making it functionally unusable. But there have also been delightful flocks of Hearthsteeds, with players attempting to alternate between the red and blue models.

Since the hotfix to address the Stormwind portal spawn timer, I seem to have noticed a significant decrease in the frequency of ‘good’ rewards, it appears that the first kill of the day on each character has a greater chance of rare or epic rewards — though this is anecdotal. The community is currently debating whether having a set of 10 Wild Hearthstone Cards will increase the likelihood of a better reward.

The event is running until March 22, so there’s still time to try for the rewards you’re seeking — if you’re seeking any at this point. Have you collected all of the rewards from the Hearthstone anniversary event yet? What are you still looking to hunt down?

Whatever you still need, good luck!
