5 fun trinkets (and useful items) to get in Season of Discovery Phase 4

The WoW Classic team has added smaller items, skills, and abilities in every Season of Discovery phase to go alongside the bigger additions like runes that add some extra flavor to the game. Some things, like the Cozy Sleeping Bag added in Phase 2, were obtainable by everyone and others benefit solo classes, like Warlocks getting a treasure-seeking Imp in Phase 3.

In Phase 4, a few more niche items have been discovered that are outright useful to have and obtainable by every class, some are part of class specific quests, and some just add a bit of fun. Here’s where and how to get them!

Walking on water

The Water Treads are cloth boots that let you walk on water for 10 minutes at a time with a five minute cooldown in between. They’re sold by Duke Hydraxis in Azshara for 9 gold and 52 silver once you reach the Honored rank with the Hydraxian Waterlords. You can boost your rep with the Waterlords faction by completing quests for the Duke as well as completing the Blackrock Eruption event daily quests.

The gift of gab? No, the Gift of Gob!

  • Item: Gift of Gob
  • Source: Sold by Pix Xizzix in Booty Bay

Gift of Gob is a new trinket that turns you or a party member into a goblin for one hour with a five minute timer between uses. This trinket is sold by Pix Xizzix in Booty Bay for 25 Tarnished Undermine Real, the new Phase 4 currency you can get from completing level 55+ dungeons.

More bag space to fill immediately

Pix Xizzix also sells the Pattern: Leather-Reinforced Runecloth Bag, an 18-slot bag, for 50 Tarnished Undermine Real. Bag space is the real endgame and Tailors can make these bags once they reach a profession skill of 300.

Sun Shades keep the sun (and the blood) out of your eyes

Warriors can get the Sun Shades headpiece, which are basically just sunglasses, in two ways. It will drop as a reward from completing the Rift Away quest alongside the Shockwave rune. To get this quest to appear, you need to complete the Bookin’ it Back quest in Winterspring. The shades requires the Astral Perfect Victory buff to equip and you can get this buff by beating Khonsu in Silithus on Hard difficulty. You can trigger this fight by speaking to the Wandering Swordsman, also in Silithus, as part of the quest to get the Sudden Death Warrior rune.

A Squire’s Tale

After completing a questline with Squire Cuthbert in the Western Plaguelands to get the Righteous Vengeance Phase 4 rune, Paladins can then pick up Dalton’s Quest from Squire Cuthbert which rewards Dalton’s Horn, effectively making Cuthbert your squire. Using the horn summons Squire Cuthbert to fight alongside you and when he defeats enemies he levels up, which is a necessary part towards obtaining another Phase 4 Paladin rune, Shock and Awe.
