Blizzard Watch Weekly: Everything is coming up Midnight
What a week it has been my friends, with the World of Warcraft Midnight alpha continuing to add content and Legion Remix launching. But there’s more to come this week as Player Housing hits the PTR for everybody to try (at least briefly). Let’s get to the news of the week!
What happened last week?
- Legion Remix launched, sending many of us back to the Broken Isles for the first time in almost a decade. If you’re one of them, you may want to read our guide to Remix currencies and our list of do’s and don’ts for success, which we’ve updated with a few new tips. (And you’ll want to use them, because it’s going to cost so much bronze to collect all of the available rewards.)
- A new patch for the Midnight alpha test unlocked Zul’Aman as well as outdoor housing customization (though there are still lots of housing features that aren’t available for testing yet).
- This week’s Hearthstone Tavern Brawl: Aviana’s Night Tavern Brawl, available through Wednesday.
- Heroes of the Storm added a new super-cute sheep mount and we are riding high on hopium for the game’s return.
We have a lot of fresh housing information this week, including a how-to on getting your house and getting to your house, as well as reviews of every plot in the Alliance Founder’s Point neighborhood and every plot in the Horde Razorwind Shores neighborhood. Once you own your home, you’ll want to collect plenty of decor to pack inside, and we have rundowns on crafting decor with professions in Midnight as well as the decor you can work towards in Legion Remix.
If you want collectables even further back — and you’ll probably find some housing decor hiding here too — we also wrote up a guide to how to get to Shadowlands, which has a whole lot of unlocks that you can (mostly) skip past, if you know how.
And even more on Midnight, you won’t be seeing support specs or pet battles in the expansion (there will be pets, they just won’t battle). However, there will still be plenty of cute things.
What’s happening this week (and beyond)
- Player housing testing is going wide as patch 11.2.7 hits the PTR with a public housing test that runs from October 13 – 16. You can download the PTR client and get in starting at 11am pacific (2pm eastern) on Monday — just select the 11.2.7 PTR client under the game version dropdown.
- Another Steam Next Fest kicks off today and runs through October 20, and it will be packed with even more game demos. Maybe we’ll find something spooky and perfect to play!
Other things we’re playing, watching, and more
- It’s spooky season, so of course we’re playing the very strange, very charming game Vampire Therapist.
- Gravity Circuit, a platformer with a retro robot vibe is this week’s free game on the Epic Games Store through Thursday.
- We’re following the AI-infused drama around tabletop map-making app Inkcarnate, which has zig-zagged from allowing to banning AI creations. 🍿
This week’s podcasts
- Blizzard Watch Podcast: Ask a Midnight alpha tester
- Lore Watch Podcast: Is Dimensius the last of the Void Lords (and what does that mean for The Last Titan?)
- Tavern Watch Plays Shadowdark, Episode 1: It was a dark and stormy night
That’s all of the news for now, but the week will catch up to us soon. Expect to see a lot more on player housing this week from the PTR, as well as a new Midnight alpha build. Into another week we go.
