How to get the ‘Definitely Not a Cultist’ title (and other cool rewards) in the Midnight pre-patch event
It won’t be long until the Midnight pre-patch is upon us, bringing with it a whole slew of changes to the game — the overhaul to transmog, Void Elf Demon Hunters, and major revamps to every spec except Frost Death Knight (who already got their turn). But one of the most anticipated part of each pre-patch is the pre-patch event, always a limited time affair that leads into the storyline of the expansion proper and usually yields some cool rewards that are rarely, if ever, made available elsewhere. Midnight is no exception, with players having a chance to snap up Blood Elf furniture, ensembles of cosmetic gear, a mount, some pets, and catch up gear equivalent to that from Normal-mode Manaforge Omega (perfect if you’re changing mains!). It also includes one of the funniest titles in recent memory: “Definitely Not a Cultist.”
So how do you earn these goodies? Don’t worry, it won’t take long for you to get there — but get ready to spend some time in the Twilight Highlands.

Dealing with a new threat: the Twilight’s Blade cult
When you first log in after the pre-patch, you’ll be automatically given a quest called The Cult Within (or its Alliance equivalent), sending you to talk to Grand Magister Rommath in Orgrimmar or Magister Umbric in Stormwind. If you somehow abandon or miss the quest, you can pick it up from them in those cities instead. This starts a short quest chain — approximately seven quests — in which you follow up rumors of a new cult, the Twilight’s Blade, who are dedicated to Xal’atath, recruiting citizens using fear of the Radiant Song, and definitely not the Twilight’s Hammer under a new name. Once you confirm their presence in the city, Rommath and Umbric swallow their pride — sort of — and agree to work together to root out the cult at its home, the Twilight Highlands.
Once you head out there, you’ll first infiltrate the Twilight’s Blade, learning of their goals as well as their leadership, before sabotaging a meeting and taking out as many cultists as you can on the way out. It’s short, it’s satisfying as a taste of what’s coming, and it gives you the chance to learn how your class plays now as well as fiddling with the new and improved Cooldown Manager. Once you’re done, you’ll earn the “<Your Name>, Definitely Not a Cultist” title and the Twilight’s Blade Tabard, plus now you’ll be able to start earning other rewards.

Furniture, weapons, and weird bats, oh my
Once you’ve finished the quests, you’ll be able to earn Twilight’s Blade Insignias that you can turn in for rewards. The biggest chunk of these come from two weekly quests — Disrupt the Call and Twilight’s Dawn. Note that these are once per week per Warband, so you won’t be able to run them over and over on your alts, but each weekly will rewards 40 Insignias. You’ll also be able to get 10 Insignias per World Quest in the Twilight Highlands, as well as 1 Insignia for taking on the Rare Elite enemies that get summoned periodically. You’ll know when these are happening because a zonewide message will go out that the Twilight’s Blade are summoning reinforcements; once you disrupt their ritual, you can fight the Rare Elite, so it’s unlikely these will get sniped before you can reach them.
Materialist Ophinell is the first two of two vendors who trades in Insignias, and her rewards are pretty snazzy:
- Arsenal: Weathered Twilight’s Hammer Armaments, an array of cultist-themed weapons, for 40 Insignias
- Ensemble: Well-Worn Twilight Cultist’s Attire, a set of gear from the defunct Twilight Trappings set from Classic, for 40 Insignias
- Three pieces of Blood Elf-themed furniture — Silvermoon Wooden Chair and Enchanted Blood Elven Candelabra for 50 Insignias each, and Sin’dorei Winged Chaise for 75 Insignias
- Retrained Skyrazor, a mount I can only describe as a weird bat, for 100 Insignias
- Scruff, Emerald Sporbit, and Rhay’Dahr, all battle pets, for 30 Insignias apiece
- Twilight Blade’s Top Secret Strategy Training Guide, a toy that summons a Twilight Stratagem game, which you can play in camp during the event, for 30 Insignias. (There’s also an achievement reward for winning the version in the camp fifty times, too: Crunching for Cultists).
Armorer Kalinovan, meanwhile, sells catch-up gear for alts for 40 Insignias apiece in every slot (like Ascension Arrestor’s Surcoat) except trinkets — including weapons! These items are a sort of grey recolor of the dungeon gear from The War Within, and can also drop from the Rare Elites during the pre-patch event.
Lastly, there is one reward you can’t purchase — if you successfully take down all of the Rare Elites during the pre-patch event, you’ll earn the achievement Two Minutes to Midnight, which rewards the Light-Forged Mechsuit. This is an exclusive, pale golden recolor of mounts from The War Within like the Diamond Mechsuit, so if you want it, it’s probably worth spending some time in the Highlands taking down those dastardly cultists!
