Liquid defeats Mythic Alleria in Crown of the Cosmos for World First Voidspire raid!
Team Liquid has won the Race to World First in the Voidspire raid… but that’s not the end of the Midnight Season 1 race, as there’s one more raid to go. However, the March on Quel’Danas raid doesn’t open until March 31, leaving Liquid with time on their hands before getting back to racing. Midnight Season 1 is proving to be a very strange raid tier, and not just because it’s split across three different raids. Liquid managed to kill the final two bosses in Voidspire within a day, taking down Alleria in the Mythic Crown of the Cosmos encounter in just 35 pulls. Here’s a replay of the kill, with raid comms.
This reminiscent of Liberation of Undermine, in which penultimate boss Mug’Zee proved significantly more difficult than the final boss Gallywix… though many more pulls were involved in those fights. And much like that encounter, the Crown of the Cosmos fight ended with something of a shrug as Alleria died almost unexpectedly, on a less than perfect pull.
So what’s next? Only two of the Midnight Season 1 raids — Voidspire and Dreamrift — are currently open. With all of the bosses in those raids dead, and three full days before the next NA reset, Liquid has extra time to eke out every last bit of gear available this reset. But if you’re watching Race to World First for the drama, it’s probably going to be a little less dramatic over the weekend as Liquid does more splits and Mythic+. Echo and Method are still fighting for the world second kill, though presently neither of them has killed the Lightblinded Vanguard to even attempt Alleria in Crown of the Cosmos. But the European guilds are just starting their raid days, and overnight they could mimic Liquid and snag kills on both bosses.
March on Quel’Danas opens on Tuesday (NA) with two more bosses: the phoenix Belo’ren and the dark Naaru L’ura. As the official final bosses of the tier, these two could prove to be more difficult than anything we’ve seen in Voidspire. We’ll just have to wait and see.
I’ll update you on the state of the race with a day 4 recap after we’re a little farther into day 4. But if you want more World First news, you can find up to the minute updates on Raider.io or watch the Race to World First guilds playing live to see the action as it happens.
