Blizzard Watch Weekly: Looking forward to Summer Game Fest

Summer Game Fest is coming on Friday, and we’re pretty excited — not so much for the big corporate showcase, but for all of the fantastic smaller showcases that are going on all week. Showcases started last week with Six One Indie, and will last into next week, flooding our Steam wishlists with new games demo, play, and look forward to. It may not be the most wonderful time of the year, but it’s at least in the same ballpark.

But there’s some Blizzard news to talk about, too, with Mists of Pandaria Classic launching Siege of Orgrimmar this week, a new (brief) Diablo 4 PTR, and Diablo 4’s third anniversary celebration (which is also far too brief). So let’s catch up on what’s going on in Blizzard games and beyond this week, as well as what’s coming up.

What happened last week?

  • We’ve seen a rise in Discord hacks lately, and have some tips on how to protect yourself from hacks, scams, and social engineering attacks — from one of our own writers, who was recently hacked.
  • If you’re tired of high repair bills in World of Warcraft, they’ll be going down in patch 12.o.7 as Blizzard prevents using weapons from damaging weapons. (That sound you hear is Protection Warriors cheering.) The patch is likely to come out mid to late June.
  • The June WoW Trading Post starts today, and it’s packed with Tauren-themed rewards, so get online and start collecting tendies to get the latest transmogs. This is the second month in a row where we’ve had fashions based on in-world cultures, so if the Tauren aesthetic isn’t your thing, perhaps we’ll see a different style in the spotlight next month.
  • If you’re still wondering where to get your void-purple Judgment set in WoW, we have a rundown of all of the Void Assault rewards (and transmogs), and the frustrating process of collecting them all. (And unfortunately, you will have to collect them all.)
  • Diablo 4 announced patch 3.1 and Season 14, which is due to launch at the end of the month. Season 14 will feature Pandemonium Ruptures, events that can spawn around the world and potentially summon an updated Realmwalker boss — but patch 3.1 is frankly more interesting than the season theme. The update adds Solo Self Found mode to seasonal play, co-op War Plans, updates to Mythic Uniques (in which all Uniques can spawn as Mythic), and a nice update to the Horadric Cube that lets you use a focused or chaotic reroll on a Unique to change its stats.
  • The Diablo 4 anniversary event launches this week, with Mother’s Blessing and March of the Goblins returning for the week, as well as some free cosmetics in the in-game shop. The event runs from June 2 to June 9, but you’ll see the first free cosmetics in the store today.
  • This week’s Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is Deal Your Fate, in which you’ll have to let fate — the cards, not the concept — control the outcome of the game for both you and your opponent. We have some decks and tips to help you win this brawl.
