Splatfest

The Queue: A very tricky Splatoween

I’m absolutely biased — because Halloween is the best holiday ever — but I think this may have been my favorite Splatfest so far. It was Team Trick versus Team Treat in an extra-long, 48-hour fight for domination. Naturally, I chose Team Trick because, well… have you met me?! On top of a fun theme and awesome ink colors (orange vs. purple), Nintendo also recently allowed players to download spooky masks. Totally free, and you got four of ’em to make this Splatfest even spookier than it already was.

All of the above said, Team Treat won (barely), and the Shifty Station this time was cool but the gimmick made for some frustrating choke points, so… Ah, who am I kidding? It was still awesome. I love October!

Oh, right. Queue time.

The Queue: Modern beats Retro… but at what cost?

This month’s Splatfest was a bit of a different one. Not only did it use a revamped system to determine the winner (Clout instead of matches won), it also resulted in the first win for Marina in a long time. Unfortunately, it also happened to be the Splatfest where I’ve been the most genuinely angry at the game.

When 11:00 p.m. rolled around, I had an hour left to get in just a couple wins. I figured I’d be done in 20-30 minutes tops. So, naturally, I wound up going on a 7-game losing streak where the matchmaking consistently placed me against teams that were rated higher. I don’t know why, but it frustrated me to no end. I finally hit Queen (the max Splatfest rank) at 11:57 p.m.. I was not a happy camper.

Anyhow, that’s literally all for any Nintendo-related anything that we’ll be discussing today. Let’s Queue.

The Queue: Pulp fashion

It’s a pulptastic showdown in this month’s Splatfest, with those who prefer their orange juice without pulp pitted against those who actually have good taste. We’ll find out this coming weekend which team comes out on top.

Until then, let’s Queue!

The Queue: Anyone who picks baseball is wrong

Hello, Queuebies!

It’s been a busy week since I last Queue’d for you, in all the best ways. That said, a side effect of my little trip to California was that, for the first time, I could not participate in this month’s Splatfest. Good news and bad news: Soccer won in popularity 60% to 40%, but lost overall because both solo-queue and team-queue battles only won 49% of matches.

Could I have made up that just-over-1% difference in wins had I been playing for Team Soccer? I wish I knew — not knowing will haunt me forever. Speaking of haunting, though, here’s a hauntingly beautiful Queue!
