Celebrate Gul’dan’s arrival in the Nexus with a hero trailer
Okay, maybe “celebrate” is the wrong world, since this trailer makes it clear that Gul’dan plans to take the power of the Nexus and use it for… well, we don’t exactly know, but it’s Gul’dan so it can’t be anything good. There’s an awfully familiar green portal overhead, which leaves us wondering if the Burning Legion is heading to the Nexus before it hits Azeroth next month. (After all, they have to be bored of Hellfire Citadel by now, too.) But we already know that Diablo hero Auriel is coming up next, so there’s nothing Burning Legion-themed on the immediate horizon.
But we’ve gotten off topic. Back to the subject of Gul’dan, in Heroes of the Storm he’s just as dangerous as he thinks he is.
As an Assassin, Gul’dan can be pretty squishy — and his Life Tap ability, which converts his health into mana so he can dish out more damage — only makes him more so. But with a healer following him around, Gul’dan can become an unstoppable killing machine. Life Tap lets him DPS non-stop and a decent healer can keep him alive while he does. His Horrify ultimate, an AOE fear, can buy time for both him and his healer in case of trouble. Morales — who’s on this week’s free rotation — is a great pocket healer for him.
If you’re playing Gul’dan, find a solid Support to stick with. And if you run into Gul’dan, get your team to focus fire: you can burn him down, but you need to do it before he’s had a chance to wreck your team.
Of course, being this powerful means we expect to see some nerfs come down in the next few weeks — possibly alongside buffs for his sad, sad Rain of Destruction ultimate. If you want to get on the action now, Gul’dan’s currently available for 15,000 gold. You’ll be able to pick him up for 10,000 gold in two weeks, but that may be too late for unstoppable killing machine Gul’dan.
