Do you like Blizzard’s ‘mystery’ content?
The Riddle of the Mind-Seekers was one of the most interesting bits of new content World of Warcraft has seen in a while — a scavenger hunt across all of Azeroth. And as cool as it was, it seems like the Lucid Nightmare mount trumps it in terms of what it asks you as a player to solve and experience in order to get the mount.
Players spent a lot of time on the Secret-Finding Discord putting together the disparate clues and hidden pieces necessary to achieve what they did. Among other things, the final step that takes players into Karazhan’s Crypts — and permanently unlocks them for worthy secret-finders — is an achievement in and of itself. That’s not to mention everything else involved in the scavenger hunt.
It’s a lot to do and involves precious little-hand holding from Blizzard. In a way, it hearkens back to original World of Warcraft when we didn’t really know anything and had to stumble around and hope we figured out how to get through the Onyxia chain or what have you.
So my question for you guys is, do you think this is the direction Blizzard should go for future content? Should they put in more mounts or pets or even items that require this kind of commitment and work to achieve? Do you want more mysteries to solve?
Are you excited or filled with dread at the idea of another strange labyrinth you need to figure out the trick to? Are these mysteries fun for you, meaningless one way or another, or something you hate? Let us know where you feel like this kind of gameplay should go in the future.
