What other crossover skins does Overwatch need to add?
After waiting since BlizzCon 2017 for the premiere of Blizzard World in Overwatch, the wait was finally over this week. But on top of the new map, we also were treated to new skins — some of them only having just recently been revealed, but others that were also BlizzCon teases. I’m speaking, of course, of the Blizzardverse crossover skins.
We were given a Nova skin for Widowmaker, Magni for Torbjorn, Butcher for Roadhog, a Sonya/Barbarian skin for Zarya, and a Blackhand skin for Doomfist. It’s hard to accurately describe how good these skins look on the Overwatch cast. It’s not like Blizzard just went, “Ehh… this skin could probably work for that hero,” slapped on a skin, and called it a day. No, these skins look great both in terms of how much they resemble the original character and in how they also totally work as a skin for an Overwatch hero.
But because I’m me and because I love to endlessly fantasize about what-ifs, I can’t help but start to picture what other Blizzardverse skins would work perfectly for the heroes of Overwatch. I know it’s already sort of a filled niche, but Reaper as World of Warcraft’s Headless Horseman just feels too good not to happen. Plus, the Raynor/Soldier: 76 comparisons are made often enough — why not make it official and give a Raynor skin to the grizzled veteran? Or, hey, maybe a Garrosh skin for Reinhardt could work?
These are just the first ones that jumped out to me, but with Blizzard’s expansive, still-growing cast of characters, I’m sure there are dozens of other options out there that would work. So that’s my question for all of you today — what Blizzardverse crossover skins do we need next in Overwatch? At this point, I’m just assuming it will happen, not that it might happen. And if that’s not the case, let’s toss out some ideas too good for Blizzard to pass up!
