Are there any Blizzard games you follow, but don’t play?

I keep up on Overwatch news as much as possible. I get excited about every new map, every new hero, and every new comic or cinematic. I lust for the game’s awesome merchandise and tune in to watch Overwatch League whenever I can. I voraciously consume Overwatch patch notes as soon as they’re available. That’s all fine, except it doesn’t make a lot of sense: I don’t play Overwatch, and I have no interest in playing it. It’s not my kind of game. And yet I still get excited about new maps, even though I’ll never play a single match on them at any point in my lifetime. It doesn’t make sense.

In fact, I get almost as excited about new Overwatch announcements as I do World of Warcraft or Heroes of the Storm announcements, which are games I actually play. This rule certainly doesn’t apply to all Blizzard games, though. I don’t play Hearthstone, StarCraft, or Diablo. I only keep up with the news from those games with a professional perspective; I read and research what’s new simply so I’m informed. If there’s a Diablo 4, I’ll make sure I know what I need to know. But I don’t particularly care whether there will be one or not. But oh boy, Overwatch announcements? Instant hype. And I can’t explain why.

Are you like this with any of Blizzard Entertainment’s games? Do you, for example, look forward to every new hero announcement for Heroes of the Storm despite not playing it? Are you hoping and praying for your favorite character to enter the roster, even though you’ve never even downloaded the game? Maybe you know everything there is to know about StarCraft lore even though you’ve never actually spawned a single zergling.

Let me know! I don’t want to be alone in my incomprehensible fandom.
