What is your favorite part of your favorite games?
Going for positivity today, cause my eyes hurt and I’m having a week. When I play Diablo 3, I absolutely love grinding a whole host of attacking demons into mulch and seeing all the sparkly and glowing treasure markers after the fact. It has a visceral pleasure to it that nothing else in the game can match, and while I appreciate Greater Rifts for a lot of reasons, I do miss that rush of look at all that loot that comes after just mowing through waves of monsters. I can’t think of anything in the game I like more.
In World of Warcraft I have a harder time making that call, but I remember some pretty awesome ones — getting my Warriors to max level, unlocking various things like Flight (I always have a quiet moment of excitement after I unlock Flight and usually go on a screenshot lap around the zone I’m in), the first time I’m in a difficult boss kill. For absolute favorite I might have to go with finally soloing a challenging older content boss — there are some bosses like Archimonde in Hellfire Citadel that are still extremely hard to do and getting them down always feels like a rush to me.
So, what about you? Is it healing a difficult match as Mercy? Playing Tyrande and getting a kill on an opposite team’s Malfurion in Heroes of the Storm? Listening to the soundtrack for StarCraft and feeling the chills of the first time you faced a zerg rush? Killing a Paladin in PVP? What’s your absolute favorite part of your favorite games?
