Sanctum of Domination Race to World First: Sylvanas Windrunner defeated by Echo to take the victory!

Echo has won the Race to World First for the Sanctum of Domination!

On the morning of their seventh raid day, Echo defeated Sylvanas Windrunner to claim their place as the world’s best raiders. After being the first to reach the top of the Sanctum of Domination Echo put in 169 total pulls to finally defeat Sylvanas. Almost every step of the way Echo lead the pack on her fight. They were the first to reach her, the first to see the chains phase, the first guild to reach Oribos, and the first guild to break the 50% mark.

After a back and forth day seven that saw Complexity-Limit and Echo trading pulls and inching ever closer to winning — Complexity-Limit briefly took the lead while Echo was sleeping. Just like in Castle Nathria the victory could’ve gone either way.

When Echo woke up for their final day to try and get the victory before the North American weekly reset they were refreshed and ready to perform. It took them only a handful of pulls on their final morning to reach the 45% mark where the fight ends. They even won with nobody dying for the entire fight!

The Sylvanas fight required nothing short of perfection and Echo delivered on it. Echo’s final raid wound up being heavily weighted in a few classes direction. They used four Night Fae Balance Druids for their Convokes to burst down the Mawsworn on the chains, and three Arms Warriors buffed by an Enhancement Shaman’s Windfury totem for huge damage on Sylvanas and extra Rallying Cries, they even had one Hunter using Rae’Shalere! How embarrassing for Sylvanas to be defeated by her own bow.

Congratulations to Echo for a hard-fought victory!

What’s different about Mythic Sylvanas?

Mythic Sylvanas is a long fight — if Sire Denathrius was a sprint, Sylvanas is a marathon. Her fight lasts around fifteen minutes, meaning that any mistake in the final phase leads to another long struggle to get back to that spot.

The first phase of Mythic Sylvanas is very similar to Normal and Heroic. She’ll still use arrows and chains to control how your raid moves, only there are a lot more of them. Her Wailing Arrows even summon shadowy Dark Sentinels that fixate on players and need to be stopped before they reach them. When Sylvanas is finally pushed into the Banshee phase before ascending to the chains she’ll launch even more giant daggers that need to be dodged which makes it even harder for players to break the chains binding them to the platform.

The Banshee Queen uses every single one of her tricks to ensure that nobody will get in the way of the Jailer reaching the top of Oribos. One of the biggest changes is that during the race along the chains the raid has to split in two with half going with Thrall and the other half going with Jaina. On top of all of the high damage mechanics, and running across narrow bridges dodging waves that will knock you off into oblivion — each group has a large Mawforged Goliath that must be tanked. The longer it hits one target the more stacks of Fury it gains, normally you’d just tank swap to drop those stacks — but with the raid split that’s not an option. This has given an additional damage check to the phase on top of trying to get as much damage on Sylvanas as they make their way over the platforms.

If players can manage to make their way to the pinnacle of Oribos, they’ll have to contend with even more powerful attacks from Sylvanas herself, and even the Jailer. It becomes an intricate dance as players contend with ever-shrinking platform space and the high damage that she does to everyone in the group all at once. By the time they reach the final platform, they to deal with every single one of her mechanics almost on top of each other. Unlike in Normal and Heroic, Mythic Sylvanas isn’t over until players get her health down to 45%.
