What World of Warcraft classes feel too busy?

Sometimes I think about the design of the Demon Hunter from Legion and I realize that in a lot of ways it’s kind of perfect. You want to tank? There’s a tank spec. You want to DPS? There’s a DPS spec. And that’s it. It doesn’t overcomplicate things with a third spec that adds in a new role or, even worse, adds in another way to do one of the two roles it has. So we don’t have the Death Knight/Warrior/Shaman problem of having two DPS specs that play very differently, the Priest problem of having a DPS spec, a healing spec, and a third spec that’s kind of both, or the Paladin/Monk problem of having a healing, tanking and DPS spec that leaves you basically always expected to do everything.

And Druids? There are four specs. But I’d actually let Druids slide, since being WoW‘s jack of all trades works for them.

And don’t even get me started on Rogues, Mages, Warlocks, and Hunters, expected to pick between three DPS specs. In the entire history of the game there has never been parity between the three DPS specs of a single pure DPS class. There’s always one favored child and one neglected child, and usually the third spec is just kind of there, like an appendix.

I keep thinking, what if some of these classes were give the Demon Hunter treatment? Warriors could be Arms/Prot, with Fury split off into a Barbarian class that had a Fury DPS and specific dual wield tanking spec. Paladins could see their healing or tanking spec given its own class — I think a Champion style class, which could tank and DPS, while the Paladin gets Healing and DPS, but I’m willing to be convinced. But what about y’all? Do you think your favorite classes are a bit busy, or would you rather everybody get more specs?
