What do you think the next WoW expansion will be? What do you want it to be?

We’re getting a World of Warcraft expansion announcement on April 19. And of course, that means the wild speculation rumpus is in full effect — we’re all wondering what the next expansion is going to be, wondering what clues we may have missed in Shadowlands or even before it that gave us hints at where the game is going to go, or where we’re going to go in it. It’s hard to really look at the past few expansions — wherein we traveled to another version of Draenor, then fought the Burning Legion and went to Argus, followed by a battle for the survival of Azeroth before ending up in the Shadowlands themselves — and hope to find a pattern

There are perennial ideas for where the next expansion could end up, of course — a lot of folks want a return to Azeroth and an expansion spent trying to fix up the place from all the chaos we’ve seen since Cataclysm. Others want us to go explore the cosmos and the cosmology chart, while still others are bringing up locales like the Emerald Dream, the Dragon Isles, and Undermine. Any and all of these could work for an expansion, of course. But I’m curious what you all think is the most likely destination for World of Warcraft.

The next expansion is, after all, officially patch 10.0 for WoW. Since that means that the next expansion is WoW‘s 10th iteration, and WoW‘s 20th anniversary will be in 2024 (which means this expansion could be the expansion that we’re playing at that time) I feel like we should have something special for it. But what? What could possibly be worthy for the expansion that may be the one we’re playing on WoW‘s 20th Anniversary, or even the one that ushers in WoW‘s 10th expansion on said anniversary? What do you guys think we should see for the next expansion?
