Easy ways to earn Trading Post currency in August to get the Bones of the Bloodhunter Ensemble

As summer nears its conclusion the Trading Post is offering a slew of new rewards — but if you also want to enjoy your last chance to lounge on the beach before autumn arrives, you may be looking for quick and easy ways to earn your Trading Post Tenders in August. In addition, you can earn 200 extra Tenders this month by completing additional activities worth 400 points. While the extra is great, unfortunately they are not optional to earn this month’s reward — the transmog set Bones of the Bloodhunter Ensemble requires reaching 1400 points.

A reminder that if you haven’t collected it yet there is a one-time bonus 500 Trader’s Tenders for purchasing Dragonflight. If there’s an item you want to purchase but don’t have enough Tenders to acquire after buying everything else, remember that you can save an item until the next month by speaking with the vendors.

Finally, activities can be completed on multiple characters. If the criteria involves multiple runs of a dungeon or raid, you can spread that out across all your characters instead of focusing on just one.

The most efficient path for point acquisition remains questing:

  • Complete 30 Quests for 200 points is extremely simple to complete. Since the game uses quests as a tracking system for other activities such as rare spawns you will probably complete this by playing the game and working on the other activities.
  • Complete 15 World Quests for 150 points, which can be any done for any expansion not just Dragonflight.
  • Earn 4000 Reputation Throughout the Dragon Isles for 150 points. This is easy, but rather slow. If you’re just starting out in Dragon Isles this may take awhile, but as long as you’re questing you’ll be earning the reputation you need for this — be sure to participate in events like the Grand Hunts and Community Feasts — even though they won’t count towards any points this month, they will get you a lot of reputation (and experience if you’re still leveling).

Raids and dungeons give big points, and aren’t necessarily difficult:

  • Defeat 25 Raid Bosses for 250 points. This is the big ticket activity every month, and it’s not as hard as it sounds because it doesn’t have to be a current raid or one wherein the creatures inside give experience when killed. As a result you can take any level 60+ character and farm pre-Legion raids — Legion starts to show an increase in difficulty that may make it take longer if you’re not yet 70 — for whatever reason, be it transmog, pets, or mounts or just to get the points.
  • Defeat 50 Dungeon Bosses for 200 points could be a good one if you’re leveling via dungeons, as you can’t “easy mode” this activity by having a high-level toon run roughshod over old dungeons. Timewalking also does not count for this, even if you’re running the Burning Crusade Timewalking Dungeons for the Trading Post. Still, if you regularly hit level-appropriate dungeons, those dungeon bosses will add up over the month.

Patch 10.1.5 and Outland provide several easy options to gain points

Patch 10.1.5 has a chance to shine in August with several options when completing two new features introduced in the patch: Time Rifts and the Whelp Day Care. Fortunately you do not need to max level in order to do these so you can use any 60+ character to help complete.

If you haven’t started the Whelp Day Care yet August is the perfect time to start. While it’ll take you about two to three weeks to fully complete, there are a lot of cool rewards and cute whelps to play with. Trading Post activities are:

  • Complete the Little Scales Daycare Storyline for 250 points. This is actually the Lovin’ Lubbins quest line from patch 10.0, not the new storyline introduced with the Whelp Day Care. Note that if you’ve already completed it on your account you’ll get credit automatically.
  • Complete 1 Little Scales Daycare Daily Quest and Complete 5 Little Scales Daycare Daily Quests each reward 100 points for a cumulative 200 points. Dailies are unlocked on the third day of the quest chain but are not accountwide so any character that you wish to participate must unlock them separately.

Time Rifts and Eon’s Fringe have some pretty straightforward options.

  • Emote /boggle at Soridormi for 50 points. If you’re already there to do Time Rifts this is quick.
  • Obtain the Box of Collapsed Reality for 50 points. This can be tough, as it requires maxing out the full 7500 temporal essence in the event to earn. If you’re on a high population server you should be able to reach this, but if not you may want to run this on daily reset day when many players are working on the weekly quests for the event.
  • Complete 1 Time Rift for 50 points and Complete 5 Time Rifts for 150 points and a cumulative 200 points. Each Time Rift takes about 15 minutes and while confusing at first they’re easy to get the hang of and worth doing for their rewards.
  • Defeat Azmerloth during a Time Rift for 100 points. To earn these points you need to defeat the Azmerloth boss at the end of the Rift. As the chance of getting Azmerloth is relatively low (1 in 7) this may not be worth directly aiming for, but you have a chance of getting it as part of the Complete 5 Time Rifts effort.
  • Complete 2 Eon’s Fringe Daily Quests for 100 points and Complete 5 Eon’s Fringe Daily Quests for 100 points and a total of 200 points. These quests can be done by any character over 60, and while the weekly reward (Encapsulated Destiny, which guarantees a reward at the end of a Time Rift) can only be used by level 70 characters, they’re very fast and pretty fun too. They require zero unlocks as well, so you can knock this out in under 30 minutes if you have five characters on the Dragon Isles.

Those who like to fish and/or run Timewalking Dungeons will want to visit Outland during the month:

  • Catch 50 fish in Outland rewards 100 points this month.
  • Complete 1 Burning Crusade Timewalking Dungeon for 50 points and Complete 5 Burning Crusade Timewalking Dungeons for 100 points, for a total of 150 points. This event is active after reset the week of August 15 until the morning of August 22.

August holidays are another source of easy points

Trial of Style will run from August 1 through August 7, and besides the all-important ability to change your transmog for free during the event you’ll also be able to earn Trading Post points. Getting all possible points will take some effort but since the Trial of Style is so much fun you’ll want to participate as much as you can — check out our guide for some tips.

  • Earn 20 Trial of Style Tokens for 20 points and Earn 100 Trial of Style Tokens for 100 points, for a total of 120 points. It can take around eight runs of Trial of Style to earn 100 Tokens — faster if you win — but since the event is on the quick side and can be run endlessly it’s pretty easy to get these points. If you’re feeling up to it, Earn 300 Trial of Style Tokens for an additional 200 points, but that’ll take a significant amount of time if you’re not consistently winning so you may want to stop at 100.
  • Take First Place in the Trial of Style for 150 points. It’s not easy finishing first, but doing so will net a nice bunch of points.
  • Emote /awe at a winning outfit display at the Trading Post for 20 points. This one is pretty straightforward, as there are a couple displayed “Winning Outfits” with the other Trading Post items for the month. Target and /awe to collect your 20 points.
  • Complete 2 “Work It” quests in the Dragon Isles for 20 points and Complete 10 “Work It” quests in the Dragon Isles for 180 points for a cumulative 200 points. There are 12 photographers scattered across the Dragon Isles during the Trial of Style and the quests are simple: keep the questgiver targeted and perform the emote requested three times to complete. The comments on Wowhead provide a good guide as to where to find these quests.

As always the Darkmoon Faire provides some Trading Post-related activities, and this month it runs from August 6 through August 12.

  • Complete 1 Darkmoon Race for 100 points and Complete 4 Darkmoon Races for 100 points to earn a total of 200 points. The races are available on the boardwalk at the southern end of the map and don’t take too long if you know what you’re doing. If you don’t know, well now’s a good time to learn!
  • Participate in the Blight Boar Concert for 150 points. The concert kicks off every hour on the half hour and is located behind the pavilions on the eastern side of the island. The event is a little chaotic and since the criteria isn’t to defeat the Death Metal Knight you should be able to earn this by showing up and getting a few hits on them.

The micro-holiday Free T-Shirt Day is on August 16 and as the name says provides plenty of shirts for you to grab.

  • Loot 1 free T-Shirt for 50 points and Loot 7 free T-Shirts for 70 points for a total of 120 points. The shirts are everywhere for the event so this should be easy to complete.
  • While wearing the Free T-Shirt emote /flex at an opposing faction player for 80 points. The Free T-Shirt is thrown out occasionally and it provides a temporary title and buff that hides your chest armor in order to show off your Free T-Shirt. Simply emote /flex at a player of the opposite faction (Valdrakken is a good place to find one) while wearing it to get the points.

The inaugural Kalimdor Cup runs from August 15 through August 28 and there are several Trading Post activities around this old world Dragonriding event.

  • Complete 5 Kalimdor Cup Dragonriding Courses for 100 pointsComplete 10 Dragonriding Courses for 150 points, and Complete 20 Dragonriding Courses for 200 points for a total of 450 points. Of course, you may not have the patience for 20 courses, but 250 points for completing ten is still pretty good.
  • Collect the Drake Racer’s Helmet Appearance for 50 points. The Helmet is just one part of the Drake Racer cosmetic appearance available from the Kalimdor Cup, and can be purchased with the Riders of Azeroth currency rewarding for completing a course.
  • Emote /salute at Lord Andestrasz While Wearing Drake Racer’s Gear for 20 points. It’s not known whether you need the entire gear set or just one piece, and whether he’s at every course or in a specific location — but once we know for sure we’ll update this article.
  • Get Directions from a Bronze Timekeeper Assistant for 20 points. It is likely there will be a breadcrumb NPC in the major cities heralding the Kalimdor Cup, talking to them should be enough to earn this reward.

With extra points and Trading Tenders available in August it’s the perfect time to visit Azeroth and earn your Blood Troll transmog gear!
