Amirdrassil Race to World First: Liquid and Echo reach Fyrakk
The Amirdrassil Race to World First is almost over — both Liquid and Echo have killed Tindral Sageswift to put themselves at Fyrakk’s doorstep. It’s a final race between them as they put everything on the line to take the crown home. Fyrakk won’t be making it easy on them though: Liquid has already put in 56 pulls and only barely gotten through the first intermission to reach phase two.
The currentWorld First standings as of writing are:
- Team Liquid — 8/9
- Echo — 8/9
- Method — 7/9
Defeating Tindral Sageswift wound up being a bigger challenge than either guild predicted. Early pulls saw them dealing with massive latency during his intermission phases. After that, they each saw numerous sub-5 % pulls before finally securing their kills. Despite how hard they tried both guilds needed the weekly reset and the extra gear gotten from reclearing the raid up until that point to finally have the numbers necessary to leave the T. Swift concert they found themselves stuck at. Liquid took 435 pulls and Echo got it on their 399th — after spending a whopping 19 hours raiding on Wednesday!
Meanwhile, we have a lot of guilds currently trying to get through Tindral. Most of them are also looking at those high triple-digit numbers before they’re going to get through it. Method already has 299 pulls on Tindral and their best attempt is only in the mid-40 % range.
Liquid and Echo are basically neck and neck right now, but Fyrakk is looking like he’s going to be a worthy final boss of the expansion. All of his new mechanics are designed to push these raiders to their limits damage-wise while requiring near-perfect precision in positioning. He summons flaming copies of himself out of Shadowflame that need to be soaked, while also forcing players to deal with a vacuum effect and a barrage of flaming orbs to dodge — and those are just the new additions to his mechanics in the first phase!
Sadly it looks like our North American guilds won’t have him down in time for Thanksgiving, there’s still time for them to have him dead by Black Friday — just in time to stock up on a new shelf for their trophy. As a consolation prize for missing Thanksgiving, I’m sure that they’ll also have a wonderful meal prepared for them by their in-house master of meals Chef Heidi! If you’re looking for something to watch while you wait for your turkey dinner to come out of the oven you can check out all of the various guilds streams who are still going to be racing.
