What game release are you most looking forward to in 2024?

Welcome to 2024, where we have 366 days for the next big title to launch! (Well, 362 now.) We have some big options both on the Blizzard horizon and beyond. So what’s looking good for the year?

It’s pretty crowded under the Blizzard umbrella! World of Warcraft has The War Within on the 2024 roadmap, kicking off the Worldsoul Saga and bringing a slew of new evergreen features right before we celebrate the MMO’s 20th anniversary. The first expansion for Diablo 4 is also on the docket — we’ll be revisiting Mephisto’s greatest Diablo 2 hits in Vessel of Hatred, but that’s about all we know so far. Add on new heroes in Overwatch 2, Hearthstone‘s full Year of the Wolf roadmap, and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic, and you may be wondering where you’re going to find the free time for all this content.

But that’s just a highlight reel of Blizzard Entertainment’s 2024 releases. Frankly, Hades 2 has occupied a permanent position on my list since the reveal trailer dropped during The Game Awards 2022. If you’re the same, keep your eyes peeled in Q2 — this development update Supergiant Games announced when we can expect early access testing to start for the title! The original Hades is also joining its Supergiant predecessors — Bastion and Transistor — on the iOS platform for folks with an active Netflix subscription.

The last highlight on my 2024 list isn’t a new title, but a new platform release. I tackled Horizon Zero Dawn when it dropped for PC right before Horizon Forbidden West‘s release; like its predecessor, HFW originally only came out for PlayStation consoles. Lucky for me, it’s not taking five years to come to PC — Horizon Forbidden West is coming to Steam and Epic Games this year! Just like HZD, Forbidden West is full of utterly gorgeous graphics and a compelling story.

Watchers, it’s looking like another busy gaming year, but that’s just from my perspective. Did Thrall and Anduin’s emotional exchange in gritty sands of Silithus compel you towards The War Within, or do the tormented whispers of Neyrelle tug you towards Vessel of Hatred?
