A first look at the epic decor rewards from World of Warcraft’s expansion-wide meta achievements
Last week’s Player Housing debut on the PTR gave us our first glimpse of an enormous amount of decor items, including the ones awarded from all-encompassing uber-achievements that span entire expansions. Keeping in mind that all aspects of these adornments are subject to change before we get the keys to our homes on live servers, here is a quick rundown of what we know about these top-tier centerpieces.
Drained Dark Heart of Galakrond: For conquering The War Within and earning Worldsoul-Searching, you’ll be awarded one Drained Dark Heart of Galakrond. With decor separated into Huge, Large, Medium, Small, and Tiny, this trinket is a Small one that you can use both inside and outside of your home. It appears to match all of the in-game representations that we have seen of Xal’atath’s energy-absorbing MacGuffin, and this version bears the cracks of Alleria Windrunner’s well-placed shot inside the Priory of the Sacred Flame. Without wall-filling capability, this small-sized energy storage device could still make an impressive wall hanging. Alternatively, you could shrink it down and use it in your home office as the universe’s most dangerous paperweight.
The Great Hoard: After fully exploring the content of Dragonflight and completing A World Awoken, you’ll receive one copy of The Great Hoard. If it looks familiar, you’re recognizing it as the Great Vault inside of Valdrakken’s bank. It falls under the Large category, but you’ll only be able to place it in the interior of your home. This one can definitely be scaled up enough to be a floor-to-ceiling eye-catcher in your trophy room. I would love for some interactive capability to be added to this one. Why not let players access their Warband banks from their homes using this well-earned vault door?
Portal to Damnation: Once you finish all of Shadowlands and add Back from the Beyond to your achievement resume, you will be the proud owner of one Portal to Damnation. It looks to be a copy of the one we used in Ve’nari’s Refuge in The Maw to travel to Torghast. While being limited to placing this sinister transporter outside of your house, its Large size means that it can serve as the intimidating centerpiece that ties your yard together. You could also buy dozens of copies and use them to create Azeroth’s most sinister fence to separate your plat from your least favorite neighbor.
MOTHER’s Titanic Brazier and N’zoth’s Captured Eye: You’ll get a double decor reward after completing Battle for Azeroth and unlocking A Farewell to Arms. MOTHER’s Titanic Brazier is a small interior-only golden container with a spherical glow, and N’zoth’s Captured Eye is a Small but horrible tentacle crystal with two Old God eyes embedded inside that you can place inside or outside. I am less impressed by the brazier right now, although I am looking forward to seeing it in action. Perhaps it will provide the perfect golden glow for your kitchen when placed on the ceiling. N’zoth’s eye is delightfully absurd, as we know so much about the corrupting capabilities of this many-tentacled monster that keeping a captive bit of it where we sleep has to be among the worst decisions in Azerothian history.
The fact that these trophies can be easily sorted into “good” and “evil” bins along with Battle for Azeroth’s double reward leave me hopeful that two decor pieces will be the standard by the time housing goes live. I don’t want to seem greedy, but I wouldn’t mind adding Fyrakk’s Smoldering Head, Oriboros-in-a-Jar, or an Authentic Dornogal Forge to my entryway. Get cracking on filling out these meta achievements now, because full access to our own Player Housing inventories is just around the corner.
