Blizzard Watch Weekly: Sometimes you really do want to set the world on fire

I’ve got to admit, I’m a little more excited for this week’s Bethesda news than anything in Blizzard games… but even that is thin gruel for Fallout and Elder Scrolls fans, so maybe don’t hold your breath while you scroll down to see what’s happening. And while we’re still waiting for the next round of content to hit Blizzard games, there are a few pieces of news this week that are worth talking about — so let’s get to the news, and catch up on what happened last week and what’s coming up this week in Blizzard games.

What happened last week?

WoW has a new six-month subscriber bonus, with a moth mount for Midnight players and a moth pet for Classic players. If you already have a 6- or 12-month subscription, you should see these goodies available now, or you can up your subscription to grab them.
While it won’t be available until WoW patch 12.1, we have a walkthrough on how to add Pepe to your player home. Or multiple Pepes. Or giant Pepes. That part’s up to you.
Diablo 4 had a small flurry of patches last week, tweaking the revised Mythic and Unique system… though not really as much as players wanted. Patch 3.1.1 was followed by a number of hotfixes to fix bugs and further tweak the Mythic system — though players are widely reporting that Iconic Mythics still aren’t dropping, so we could see more patches this week. The best change, however, is the removal of the “one crafted Mythic” rule which only let you equip a single crafted Mythic item.
We’re starting to think about when the next Diablo seasons will come around. We anticipate that Diablo 4 Season 14 will end in September and Diablo 3 Season 39 will end in October.
For those of you who just need a little more randomness in your lives, this week’s Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is Valeera’s Bag of Burgled Spells. Get a random deck of nothing but spells, and when you play a spell it also summons a random minion of the same cost. It can be fun, but it can also be frustrating, but if you keep trying you’ll score a win eventually.
Turbulent Timeways continues in World of Warcraft with another four more weeks of Timewalking. Shadowlands Timewalking is available through reset, and Classic Timewalking starts on Tuesday.

Other things we’re playing, watching, and more

Bethesda has laid out a roadmap of upcoming games, though it’s so vague on when anything might happen that I’m not sure I should be calling it a roadmap. But it does promise Fallout 5 (in pre-production), remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, a new Fallout game from Obsidian (which we’d already heard about, but now know isn’t Fallout 5 or a remaster), The Elder Scrolls 6 (in production, but without a release window), and more content for Starfield. That last bit is a pretty vague promise in an already vague announcement, but us sci-fi fans have to take what we can get.
This week’s Epic Games Store freebies are horror games coming at the genre from a very different angle: Echo Generation, a cozy horror game in the vein of Stranger Things, and Luto, a gory horror game that is the opposite of cozy. Glhf my friends, as they’re both free through Thursday.
It’s still a little early for spooky season, but I’m a fan of keeping things spooky year round, so we’re digging into the latest D&D Ravenloft book to find the very best monsters for your next game.
