Matthew Rossi @MatthewWRossi — Matthew Rossi is a synapsid, perhaps descended from Cynognathus. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and grew up there before leaving to see the world and be mistaken for a sasquatch and/or minor singing celebrity in various locales. He currently lives and writes in Edmonton alongside his amazing and beautiful wife and their cats. He’s written three collections of speculative fiction, Things That Never Were, Bottled Demon and At Last, Atlantis. He loves playing warriors in World of Warcraft, barbarians in Diablo III, and he’s beginning to notice a pattern here.

How should Blizzard implement the lessons of Torghast for future soloable content?

I mean, not just Torghast -- I feel like the return of Legion's Mage Tower in patch 9.1.5 and the Horrific Visions from Battle for Azeroth should also have taught them a few things -- but I'm definitely curious what you guys think the Torghast (and to a lesser extent, the Maw and Korthia) experience should teach Blizzard about making soloable content for players.

A story of gods, dragons, and a lot of crashed airships: Join us this Saturday for another episode of D&D escapades

Last time we saw our intrepid adventurers, they were crashing a magical ship into the Infinite Battlefields of Acheron, meeting up with a goddess of War, and learning that their long time enemy was attempting to breach the Eye of the Maker, a fantastic magical location where all sorts of bad stuff could well happen.

The Queue: Wait, I actually enjoyed playing Hearthstone Mercenaries?

I’m as surprised as you guys! I mean, I literally didn’t want to play it, I just did it because our beloved EiC Liz Harper made the point that I should probably give it a shot if we were going to talk about it during the podcast. And then I did play it, and… I kind of liked it? I mean, it didn’t become an obsession or anything, but I enjoyed the experience and I felt like this is what the Garrison mission table should have been — not just selecting characters and sending them off to fight, but actually controlling them, choosing how they attack and what tactics they use.

I mean, it’s not particularly deep, but I’m not even past level 7 yet, so we’ll see how it feels once I get better at it. Regardless, I actually had fun playing it and I’m not adverse to continuing to play it.

Oh, and I’m listening to L7’s Pretend We’re Dead as part of my I’m awake at 4 am and I need music to function playlist. It’s also got Wolves Without Teeth by Of Monsters and Men on there, which is pretty dang good, you should try that out.
