Why do games have such terrible inventory systems?
There's some kind of evil extradimensional entity that makes developers simultaneously create huge, expansive open worlds for players to explore while also including a crafting system to make things.
How do you make sure to keep your criticism constructive?
Even the games I love have things that I don't like. World of Warcraft has the interminable class balance problem that it has always had (and probably will always have) magnified by player perception that if a class isn't exactly as good at every aspect of gameplay as everyone else trying to do that aspect -- yes, I'm looking at you, tanking -- that said class is garbage and must never be brought to a dungeon or raid.
What is your favorite piece of music from a Blizzard game?
Music in video games is a subject that I absolutely love and could discuss for hours and hours -- and Blizzard games are, obviously, part of that equation as well.
If you could go to the Blizzard World theme park in real life, which Blizzard character would you want to see (or hug) the most?
Look, theme parks are neat, and it's not fair that we've been teased with Blizzard World in Overwatch for years at this point but we can't actually go there in real life.
How do you feel about the Man’ari Eredar rejoining the Draenei?
Dragonflight continues to expand player options, and patch 10.1.7 adds one that has long been on the top of many lists: the red-skinned Eredar appearance for Draenei.
How do you deal with a game that takes over your life?
I play a lot of video games.
How should Blizzard handle World of Warcraft’s testing and QA going forward?
Bugs and issues have been present in World of Warcraft since the game was first released, as is true in any modern game.
How do you feel about World of Warcraft’s major characters “retiring”?
If you've completed the Human Heritage Armor quest chain, you know that former antagonist Vanessa Van Cleef has chosen a new role for her life.
What are you most excited for in Dragonflight patch 10.2?
Blizzard recently announced the next phase of Dragonflight's story with patch 10.2, the Guardians of the Dream, and we learned that the main stage for this upcoming patch is the Emerald Dream, a realm created by the Titans that represents what Azeroth would look like without any outside influence.
When does a game turn from something you play for fun to something that’s basically a job?
There's a constantly shifting line in my head between games being something fun I engage in for stress relief or a dopamine hit and games being a checklist of tasks I have to complete.
