The Queue: Plant theft is not a joke!
It’s time for fall gardening, so I’m getting my broccoli and lettuce starts started, and it always cracks me up that the plant store gets very mad about people taking broken off pieces of houseplants to propagate. It isn’t discouraging it per se — I get it, that’s why they’re there. It’s for sale, so they want you to buy it. But there are a few specific types of plants where they try to tell you it is illegal to do it, even if you purchase the plant and bring it home and then later propagate a new one. Those particular varieties, I steal whenever I can, because heck the man. Tradescantia and varigated pothos? Get out.
This is The Queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and we’ll answer as soon as we’re done running from the plant police. It may take a while.

The Queue: Welcome to fall!
It’s officially fall as of today! The best season, for any number of reasons, but mainly because I can wear lots of nice, thick sweaters.
It has nothing to do with my birthday sneaking up on me in less than a month. Nope, not one thing.
Halloween is pretty great too!
