The Queue: Will it fountain?

The first thing I do when I run into an item that can only be used in water is to test said item in Dalaran’s fountain. Why? Because I can. It turns out the Love Boat from the Love is in the Air event can be used in the fountain — although it despawns almost immediately after it’s been summoned. So the answer of whether or not it will fountain is a solid sort of. I have many more solid answers for you in the column below.

Continuing on with the ceiling tour — did you know the Violet Citadel has this crazy ornate wallpaper on the ceiling? For some reason, whoever built the upper balconies decided to wallpaper the ceiling below. It’s been there since Wrath (you can see it in both versions of Dalaran), but I don’t think I’ve ever noticed it until now. I need to make it a point to look up more often!

I think my favorite part about the Xavius encounter in Emerald Nightmare is the distinct lack of…anything. That blank, gray nothing is somehow more terrifying than any hyper-rendered environment we’ve been plunked into over the years. I particularly like how the ceiling is just a vague criss-cross of something that might be branches, or vines, or any number of wholly unpleasant things. It’s just blank enough for your brain to self-insert all kinds of horrible things that might be lurking just out of view.

I’m not sure who they’ve got over at Blizzard working on plant models — but whoever they are, they managed to one-up the gorgeousness of Draenor’s plant life from last expansion. I didn’t think that was possible. We’ve come a very, very long way from the trees of vanilla — anyone remember those? They were just a series of flat panes that looked really, really fake when you got up close. I don’t know where we’re going next expansion, but I’m hoping wherever it is, it’s got a lot of plants.

Without fail, every time I head to Suramar for a quest I invariably get lost in taking screenshots of all the little details scattered throughout the city. I’m going to be really, really sad when we inevitably have to say goodbye to this place at the end of the expansion.
The Queue: Real Fake Doors
If you’re wondering who spent way too much time on a completely unrelated, mediocre-looking gag that most people probably won’t get, I’ll give you a hint: It’s the person who is not Alex and also who’s writing today’s Queue. You get two guesses.
And with that seg-out-of-the-ue, let’s get to questions!
