The smaller — but still notable — changes coming in WoW patch 10.1.5

While patches 10.1 and 10.2 are considered the “larger” content releases according to Dragonflight’s 2023 roadmap, patch 10.1.5 is still bringing a decent amount of content — a continuation of the Dragonflight story focusing on the Bronze Dragonflight, the Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon, the new Augmentation specialization for Evoker, the PVE Time Rift event, and smaller activities like Whelp Daycare and Eon’s Fringe daily quests.

Last week, Blizzard dropped the patch 10.1.5 content update notes but since all of the focus is on the continuation of the narrative and the new activities coupled with the sheer amount of information on class changes, it’s really easy to miss some of the other notable quality-of-life changes coming in patch 10.1.5.

Some of the notable gear, item, and customization changes

This change is likely more well-known at this point but to free up some inventory space for players, both of these Hearthstones are now going to be toys. While the positive is more space, I’m not looking forward to this one because I still use my Dalaran stone to get around quickly but I have a feeling these will now bind to the current or new locations of my main Hearthstone.

Warlock customization is another of the more notable features highlighted leading up to patch 10.1.5’s release but the smaller, overlooked point is the new pet customization feature at the Barbershop for your Warlock pets.

  • Timewalking gear earned at maximum level will now be on the Adventurer upgrade track and can be upgraded with Flightstones and Whelpling’s Shadowflame Crests at any item upgrade vendor. This will not be retroactively added to Timewalking gear earned before the release of Fractures in Time.

This may be considered a slightly bigger than a “small” change but Timewalking gear being put on the Adventurers track means that gear starts at ilvl 389 and caps at ilvl 411. This may not be a huge bump for some players but for others who need to level up at level 70, Timewalking can now be another source of decent gear.

  • Updated some legacy raids to drop bind-on-equip items more often when running them solo.

Smaller quality-of-life changes

Sometimes navigating World of Warcraft can seem like a never-ending maze of menus, tabs, and icons so I’m all for options that make navigating through them or keeping track of things easier:

  • Added a new quest icon to indicate important quests.
  • You can now track uncollected transmog appearances by Shift clicking it in the Collections pane. This adds it to your Objective Tracker. Click the icon to supertrack it, just like you would for a quest. Currently, you can only track appearances sourced from vendors, dungeons, and raids. Hold down Shift to see which appearances can be tracked.
  • While in a scenario, minimap blobs are now yellow instead of blue to increase visibility.
  • Text-to-Speech now has options for Item Loot, Currency, and Money Loot chat messages.

One of the features that was supposed to launch with patch 10.1.5 was the “Sell All Junk” button added to vendor menus but due to some last minute changes, this feature is now targeted for a release in patch 10.1.7.
