Everything we know about the Emerald Dream, the new zone in Dragonflight patch 10.2

The Emerald Dream is now live with Dragonflight patch 10.2 and will be our main setting for the new story quests, raid, public events, and more. The Emerald Dream has deep-rooted lore intertwined throughout World of Warcraft with the main connections being to the Green Dragonflight and the Druid class. Green Dragons have long been known as protectors of the Dream. Druids can access the Dream-inspired zone, Moonglade, while also being able to go to the Emerald Dreamway, a snippet of the Dream, as part of the Legion class campaign. In patch 10.2, all players will be able to enter the Emerald Dream to help the Green Dragonflight stop Fyrakk and his allies from setting the realm ablaze.

Patch 10.2 is now live, so let’s look at everything we know about the Emerald Dream zone.

The new raid — Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope

Amirdrassil is a World Tree sprout planted in the Emerald Dream by Tyrande Whisperwind — and the namesake of the new raid coming in patch 10.2. Near this sapling tree is Green Dragonflight temple which will be where the raid takes place. Amirdrassil will be a 9-boss raid with Fyrakk being the final boss encounter at the top of Amirdrassil. The raid will also include a dragonriding encounter, bringing a new type of challenge to raiders.

Amirdrassil will be the final raid in Dragonflight, but don’t worry about a content drought because there will be a Dragonflight Season 4 following up on this with Fated raids offering new challenges.

We also learned about a new legendary axe, Fyr’alath the Dream Render, that can be acquired by players. Details are scarce as to how players can get this weapon right now but considering Fyrakk is wielding it in the reveal trailer, promo images, and concept art, it’s very likely it’ll be tied to the raid.

Three new public events — Superbloom, Emerald Frenzy, and Emerald Bounty

During the reveal, Senior Narrative Designer Anne Stickney spoke about three new public events — Superbloom, Emerald Frenzy, and Emerald Bounty — that players can take on in the Emerald Dream when patch 10.2 arrives. Anne gave a little bit of detail about each type of public event and mentioned that all three will be connected to each other in a nature, circle-of-life kind of way.

Superbloom is the first public event and involves escorting and protecting a wandering Ancient from one point to another. Completing Superbloom then activates Emerald Frenzy, where players will attack waves of frenzied flora and fauna. These enemies will drop currencies and, more importantly, seeds that can be used in the Emerald Bounty. Planting the seeds in the Emerald Bounty causes a sprout to appear that players can continue to feed over a 5-minute period. The more players that show up and feed the sprout, the bigger it gets, and when the timer is up the more rewards it’ll give.

The Dream Wardens, our new allies

The Dream Wardens are the latest Renown faction coming in Dragonflight patch 10.2 and will be our main allies in the defense of the Emerald Dream against the Fyrakk and his minions. We’re familiar with green dragons as defenders of the Dream but the Warden’s ranks will also include Keepers, Dryads, Druids, and Runebears. Like the other Renown factions in Dragonflight, we’ll be able to earn reputation with the Dream Wardens from story quests and worlds quest and be rewarded with different gear, cosmetics, and collectibles from the Dream Wardens as we journey through and protect the Emerald Dream.

A new world boss and new Dragonriding courses

The new world boss in the Emerald Dream is Aurostor the Hibernating, a large bear that players will need to team up for and, quite literally, put back to sleep. The Emerald Dream will also feature lots of content for Dragonriding aficionados — a new Dragonriding mount, the Flourishing Whimsydrake, new Dragonriding courses, three new Dragonriding traits, more Dragonriding glyphs, and more customization options for your mounts.
