Blizzard Watch Weekly: We still just want to talk about Diablo (but other things keep happening)
Though we haven’t come down from our Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred high, Blizzard has continued to bombard us with new announcements. It’s been doing a great job of keeping us on our toes, but really I just want some downtime to level a Paladin, and I’m kind of hoping Blizzard could stop and take a breath. However, signs are pointing to no. It’s a buzzing hive of activity at Blizzard HQ. Simply buzzing!
So for this Monday’s roundup, there are new releases and new announcements to talk about. It’s time to round up the week’s news to look back at what happened last week and forward at what’s happening this week. Here’s the latest in Blizzard games.
What happened last week?
- Blizzard announced WoW patch 12.0.7, not leaving much time for any of us to dwell on the buggy launch of patch 12.0.5. It’s another surprisingly large patch, with new one boss raid (Sporefall), an unusual new powerup system (The Omnium Folio), more void-fighting activities, new Loa-centric Lorewalking stories, Troll-centric story quests, and more. Read our writeup to find out everything there is to know.
- Even with patch 12.0.7 on the horizon, there’s still a ton to do in WoW patch 12.0.5, but out of all the activities we decided that what most needed a guide was Decor Duels, a prop hunt mode that has a fair bit of depth. (But sorry, we aren’t giving away our favorite hiding spots.)
- It’s May, which means the May WoW Trading Post is now live, with some great Gilnean looks and many fine hats. (So many hats!)
- Blizzard released two very awesome WoW home exteriors… in the Hearthsteel cash shop. You can buy a bundle of two treehouse-styled exteriors for $40, or a bundle of these two treehouses and matching gardening decor for $75. I love these new looks, but that’s a hard sell. For now, I continue to covet it from afar.
- Not to be outdone by Warcraft, Diablo 4 also launched a collection of cosmetic armor sets themed after iconic World of Warcraft tier 2 sets and associated vanilla weapon appearances. Each set costs $28, a number which is really going to add up if you play more than one class. There’s also a new Warcraft-themed collab including themed armor and weapons — some of which are free and some of which require
- Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred launched last week, and we have guides on fishing, loot filters, and the new charms system. Plus: which class should you play in Lord of Hatred? We have some suggestions.
- Hearthstone announced its upcoming Class Sets, which are replacing mid-expansion minisets, offering sets of class specific cards you can buy for cash or gold… though with a set for each class, you’ll wind up paying more than you did for minisets.
- This week’s Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is Dual Class Deckbuilding Brawl, and it’s one that can be really rough if you have a limited card collection as you try to build on the strengths of two classes to build one great deck. We have some deck suggestions to help you out.
- Though there’s nothing new here, we wrote a guide on how to collect WoW’s Warlock pet appearances, which are scattered throughout the game. Check out our guide and get collecting.
What’s happening this week (and beyond)
- Through March 4: WoW Children’s Week is live, with a chance to get the new nap mat toy and live the dream of nap time any time.
- May 5: Hearthstone launches Restoration of Azeroth Class Sets for Druid, Hunter, Paladin, and Mage.
- May 14: WoW Classic Anniversary realms TBC Phase 2 launches
- Through May 21: Another WoW murloc plushie decor Twitch Drop is available to add to your collection.
- Until they’re gone: BlizzCon 2026 tickets are on sale
Other things we’re playing, watching, and more
- This week’s Epic Games Store freebie is Oddsparks, an oddly cozy fantasy automation game. Plus there are adorable tree things, and how can you say no to that?
