Last Epoch has finally been released onto the world from following a very successful Kickstarter in 2018, a few release delays, and four years in Early Access.

The Last Epoch launched last week after five years of early access, and it's an ARPG that, like almost every ARPG in existence, is clearly heavily influenced by Diablo 2.

A common joke in tabletop RPG communities is that the true final boss of any campaign is scheduling.

I’m not sure what game I’ll get around to buying next.

While big-name tabletop RPGs aiming to compete with Dungeons & Dragons (or at least try to fill a similar niche) garner a lot of attention -- for example, Matt Colville's "tactical heroic cinematic fantasy" MCDM RPG, which raised over $4 million dollars --  there are a lot of cool and innovative games offering unique experiences that are also out there competing for your attention (and pledge of support).

If you watched the last D&D Direct all the way to the very end, you would have seen a tantalizing hint in amongst the upcoming books for 2023 and 2024 -- Jeremy Crawford and Chris Perkins couldn't help but mention the return of Vecna, one of the D&D franchise's most iconic villains.

Maybe it's cold Midwest weather that has me thinking about cozy couch games, maybe it's the recent sense that Love is in the Air -- whatever the case, I've recently been musing on how few solid couch co-op games currently exist (at least in mainstream gaming).

Dungeons & Dragons turns 50 this year, and when not laying off employees, Wizards of the Coast likes to celebrate by releasing new books, including a new version of D&D that eschews the concept of editions (while it is itself a revision of the 5th Edition).

This week is the first Steam Next Fest of 2024 and, as always, I am excited to try out new game demos.
