The Queue

The Princess Bride is full of life lessons, but before I get off track, let’s Queue.

But you don’t have to relax if you don’t want to.

It’s the Queue! Let’s do!

For some reason, Blizzard games and cows go together as well as popcorn and butter, Romeo and Juliet, mac and cheese. From the Secret Cow Level in Diablo to the iconic Busan Cow from Overwatch; from the Tauren in World of Warcraft and the Tauren Marine in StarCraft to ETC from Heroes of the Storm, or the ever useful E.T.C., Band Manager from Hearthstone… cows and cow-people always find a way into Blizzard games — and I’m certain we all agree that they’re much richer for it.

This is The Queue, where we talk about cows, factions, MMOs, ţ̴̝͒̈̈́́h̶͇͈͎̹̬͚͕̜̎͑͋e̸̯̞̟͒̒͂ͅ ̴͔̥̦͕̈́̍̾̀̿̉̊͠͠͝ͅv̴̺̖̞̜̮̘̬̦͗͛͂͂̅͐͐õ̷̡̼̜͉͖͐̏͛̾̈́i̴̝̖̐̿̾̄̆d̶͇̮̻͕͉͉͍̪̱̝̋́̆̓͗͠, and more cows.

Sometimes, you’ll take the motivation to do stuff from any corner, no matter how silly it may seem otherwise. Sometimes the motivation comes from little treats, like “if you finish this, you can go to the cafe for an almond croissant.” And sometimes, the motivation is there because you’re going to post something on Instagram, so it may as well look cute.

This is The Queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and we’ll get through answering because if we’re good we’ll get 15 minutes of video game time.

Oh boy, I have had a doozy of a week. I had to be the boss at work and that meant that I sadly could not write my Queue last week, but let’s give a nice big shout-out to Liz Patt who aced it! Luckily I was able to sneak in a raid and we’ve managed to get through Mythic Volcoross!  3/9 Mythic bosses down now, on to the Council!

Volcoross is another of those bosses that I feel like I should be able to skin, but can’t for some reason. If I can skin a Core Hound, why can’t I skin a giant lava snake?! They could’ve made it another source of Obsidian Cobraskin, especially since the Legendary Axe needs a bunch. I still can’t believe that only one creature supplies it and it’s so important for Mail wearers.

While I go and get my daily Elusive Cobra kill in, it’s time for — The Queue!

Time is weird every week, but there’s just something about Fridays where time is even weirder. We’re on the cusp of something, of escaping the week. But we aren’t quite there yet. Time stretches and compresses at once. It is Friday. It is every day.

Well, let’s get to the Queue before our sense of time collapses completely.

Honestly, if I didn’t talk about it, you’d all probably come to my house to complain. And yeah, that’s a T. rex image in the header, I honestly haven’t found an image of the new species I like yet.

I very rarely follow a Cory queue, so I don’t often get an earworm. I did switch with Anna this week — but I’m still not following a Cory queue because the divine Liz P was up yesterday. Fortunately(?) she replicated Cory’s earworm formula and so I’ll be writing this queue by a crystal blue Italian stream. Unfortunately the weather forecast is:

Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Oh wait, that’s a different Bangles song. Fun facts: Manic Monday was written by Prince, and A Hazy Shade of Winter was originally a Paul Simon song performed by Simon & Garfunkel. If I had to pick just one Bangles song, though, it would be In Your Room which while a top 5 at the time is largely ignored now. Probably because Walk Like an Egyptian is just as iconic of the band as Manic Monday so those two get all the airtime.

Long story short, they should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside the Go-Go’s and Pat Benatar. Hopefully they’ll be 2024 nominees.

Anyway, while I clearly have an eternal flame for the Bangles, let’s actually answer some questions!

Okay, Watchers, rise and shine, and don’t forget your booties ’cause it’s cold outs– wait, this isn’t an audition for Groundhog Day? Whoops!

My weekend involved cleaning the house and my emails. I still managed to play a bunch* of Diablo 3 at the kickoff of Season 30. This is the Queue — I am definitely not your regularly scheduled Cory, but we’ll still have fun today.

(* more than 12 hours and that’s all I’m going to say about it.)
