Fantasy

We can all agree that fantasy characters universally represent a few things -- one of which is relief from the restrictions of reality.

Do you ever find yourself thinking, "I love the fantasy for this class, but I don't like playing it?" Or, perhaps, it's the other way around: Is there a class that you love to play, but you don't really connect with lore-wise?

Fantasy as a genre, especially fantasy gaming -- whether it be tabletop or computer -- is dominated by a tradition derived from Tolkien, a sort of mashup of various European sources.

For once, we aren't talking the nebulous idea of the "class fantasy." Instead, we're going to talk about fantasy as a genre.
