For all we've talked about her when discussing other important players in Warcraft lore, we've never really taken a direct look at Aegwynn, the second-to-last Guardian of Tirisfal.

To me, no villain in the entirety of the Warcraft franchise conjures up the imagery and malevolence of Sargeras.

As soon as Hellfire Citadel and patch 6.2 hit the servers -- and maybe even a little before -- people started talking about what the next WoW expansion is going to be.

A couple of weeks back we took a look at the origin of Sargeras and the Eredar. This week, we pick up with Sargeras' first assault on Azeroth, the War of the Ancients. This conflict changed the face of the world forever, splitting the primeval continent of Kalimdor into four pieces (that we know of) -- modern Kalimdor, Northrend, the Eastern Kingdoms and Pandaria.

The fallen Titan unleashed the Burning Legion and sent them across infinity, devouring worlds like cosmic locusts, rendering them lifeless. A nearly unstoppable army of demons under his banner finds worlds and unmakes them, and so far only one planet has held out against the onslaught of Sargeras and his Burning Legion. But who is Sargeras? What motivates this being? What drives him to seek the unmaking of the entire universe?

One of the major players in Warlords has been a source of suspicious contention in my mind ever since we got a look at his new model. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the last major player to give us a legendary quest chain was suspicious and shady.
