What are your preferred modes in group play?

When I play Heroes of the Storm, I almost exclusively play healers, because I’m terrible at Heroes of the Storm and I can at least grapple with the basic idea of what healing is supposed to do — keep people alive. I mostly play Malfurion, Alexstrasza, Uther, or Kharazim, and it’s been a while so I have no idea how good any of those are. I just know that I always feel like I can drop in and even if I’m terrible, I’m contributing something as a healer.

Meanwhile, in Diablo 3 I will literally never play in a group as anything but a Barbarian. I have Crusader, Monk, and Demon Hunters I play, but not in group play — I am only comfortable in a group as a Barbarian, the class I know the best and understand the most so I never feel like I’m going to end up looking foolish in front of some random strangers. In World of Warcraft I’m most comfortable in a group as a tank — I’ve learned to play DPS on both my DK and my Warrior, but it’s never come easily to me and I’m always a little relieved when I end up tanking. I don’t pretend to know why this is, it’s just the way I’m most relaxed when I do group content in WoW.

So now, I turn to you, gentle and not so gentle readers alike — what are you most comfortable with doing in group content? Are you always the healer, or do you like to switch it up? Are you that Overwatch player who is always Mercy except when they’re Moira, or do you pop from Doomfist to Mei to Genji at a moment’s notice and can easily play Junkrat or Reaper or Lucio at a moment’s notice? Where is your comfort zone when you’re playing with a group?
