What are your current goals in Diablo 4?

Diablo 4 has been out for over a week now — longer if you pre-purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions — so there’s been plenty of time to explore Sanctuary. Last night, I completed the campaign and unlocked World Tier 3 difficulty (A.K.A., “Nightmare” tier) before stopping, and I began to ponder what else I needed to do. The list was shorter than I honestly expected.

One thing I want to do is reach Renown 5 in all five of the zones, as that ensures I’ll get the maximum amount of exploration from the game. There’s a lot of interesting sidequests and zones that I want to complete because from what I’ve done so far — I’m particularly fond of the two Scosglen Strongholds I’ve finished — it’s pretty obvious the story team put as much into them as they did the main campaign. While reaching the top Renown tier isn’t the same as 100% of the zone, it pretty much guarantees I’ll have completed all side quests and Strongholds to see all that I want to see.

The other main thing I want to accomplish is leveling the other four classes at least until they unlock their Ultimate Skill. While I’m very happy playing the Rogue, I don’t want to assume it’s the only class I’ll enjoy. (That said, I may wait for the first Season to begin next month before I start on this, because I’ve neglected a lot the last few weeks playing D4.)

What I don’t plan on doing at this point is leveling or gearing my Rogue much more. While I’m sure a few levels will come by completing my exploration goals, I don’t anticipate spending much time trying to maximize my gear — sorry, Tree of Whispers. It’s not that I’m averse to this style of gameplay; Baal knows I’ve did it a ton with Diablo 3. It’s just at this point in my D4 journey I’m more content with exploring Sanctuary and I’ll wait for future Seasons before I start worrying about level 100.

What about you? Have you set up goals for Diablo 4, or are you just playing it to see where the game takes you? Are you planning to give Hardcore mode a try (I probably will with one of my alts) or are you content with a less stressful game experience?
